Blood demands blood Elizabeth “Oh. I’m going to kill that w***e, I swear to god. If she hadn’t meddled with my business that monster would have been dead by now.” Rhaena cursed as she lays on the bed in the Infirmary. When the Masters found us, we told them that she was too drunk. Nikolas was fast enough to cast a concealment spell for the door Rhaena has ruined. The master will not be pleased if they found out that a novice is destroying the property of the academy. “And, his minions wouldn’t think twice to kill you and all the things we’ve lost would have been for nothing if you can’t reclaim your father’s throne.” Nikolas screamed at her. She fell silent. “The people of Galapornea wanted you alive. You can’t take the Fire Throne if you’re dead, Rhaena. For seven sakes, listen to me just once.” “But, it would have been worth it.” she mutters in a small voice. Nik shakes his head. “It’s never worth it. He has taken your parents’ lives, are you fool enough to take his yours too?”  “Once, I took my father’s throne, I will make him suffer and everyone he holds dear,” she promised. A tear fell her eyes. “After what I have been through. What my people been through.” She repeats. Tears fell from her eyes. Nikolas sighed, and takes a seat next to her. “Before you do that, you have to be more powerful than him. You can’t take him on your own. Your father was the most powerful man before, and looked where he is right now? Jeorne has the power of evil, and I just don’t where did he get the negative energy. But, what I am sure of, it has to do with the existence of The Fallens. I might be a boy during the sack of Galapornea. But, I remember every small details that happened during that night. He took Galapornea by night, and slaughtered half of your father’s people in the morning. There was something wrong with his sodiers, they were not quite mundane at all.” “How many time must I tell you that it has something to do with The Gate? I’ve told you many times, but you never listens.” “It might be true, Rhaena. If he took your father’s life that easily, what’s stopping him from taking yours?” “You are the last heir of King Rhaul. Your cousins are dead, the only relatives you have are Master Gregory and Archmaster Kaerwin, who are eunuch. But, you can still prolong the line of the Lapornea.” The door knob suddenly turned open, and I gave Nikolas a warning that someone is coming. He nodded, and Rhaena glares at me before she closed her eyes. I sat casually on the bed next to hers when Mage Mari arrived. She smiled at me, “I just don’t know what it is with you and this Infirmary.” she shrugs. “I guess, I will always be your patient.” I joke. Nikolas burst out laughing. Rhaena settle into timid reaction. “That’s because you don’t know how to keep yourself from trouble, my lady. And, a lady shouldn’t drink too much.” She said, and passed a cold stare at me and Rhaena. “That’s not advisable, and very inappropriate,” “But, good thing, you didn’t hurt yourself too much this time, at least.” she said. She walked closer to me, until she’s standing in front of me. She tilt my head up, and looked at my eyes. She hums. “Good. there’s no concussion or anything. You’re good to go,” she said. I smiled. She settles her eyes on Rhaena, whose smell of ale is still strong. She huffs, and made a disapproval noise. “And, as for you, Lady Sofia, you have to stay here until you’re sober enough,” Mage Mari tells her. “Trust me, I am sober right now.” Rhaena said, and smirked. Mage Mari turns to look at me. “Your mother wished to talk to you,” I nodded, then I headed towards the door. When I pulled it open, Daemon is leaning against the wall. He’s still wearing his soft garments. But, he looked tired. “What are you doing here?” I asked. He rub the back of his head, and shrugs. Wait, is he being shy or what? Cause it’s pretty unusual. “I was waiting for you.” he mumbles. “How long have you been here?” I asked. Padding towards him. “I came as soon as I found out that you guys were brought here.” he said, “What were you three even doing in the balcony?” “You wouldn’t believe me if I told you,” I said. We started walking away from the Infirmary, not sure where we are headed. I don’t know where my mother’s penthouse are. “Try me,” “Rhaena tried to kill Jeorne last night,” I said.  His eyes widened. “What?” he exclaimed. “How did she even know that he was there?” I shake my head. “When I looked for restroom last night, I bumped into him,” I said. I looked at his expression, waiting if suspicions arise. “What happened?” “He told me that he has a daughter. Jehaerys has a twin sister, but she died,” I said. Daemon nodded. “That’s true,”  he mutters under his breath, “She didn’t exactly die. No one saw her body. But, I think, someone took her.” Daemon said. “Why would someone even take her?” “I don’t know, Elizabeth. I wish I knew the reason why,”  he said. Then, we turn a corner. The way was familiar to my mother’s penthouse. I turned to look at him. “How’d you know I was going to my mother?” I asked. He shrugs, “Well, I was the one who told Mage Mari to tell you,” he murmurs. “So, you’ve been in my mother’s penthouse?”  He nodded. I sigh. Does he even know that my mother is a witch? I was contemplating if I should tell him. I figured out I should tell him myself before he learns it from someone else.  I grabbed his arms. My hand came into contact with his bare arm, his eyes widened a bit and I saw him swallowed. “I have to tell you something, my mother, she’s a---” “She’s a witch. I know,” Daemon interrupted me. I gasped. “How?” “My father told me. He was afraid that you might not fulfill your promised on marrying me and protect Nister. So, he had his spies smell your family’s background. Your brothers and father are a warlock.” “Then, that makes me a witch,” I mutter under my breath. I still can’t believe that she kept all of these from me. The lies she told me. I wonder how many lies she hasn’t yet told me. He stops on our tracks, as he turned to look at me. His eyes look apologetic, “Maybe,” he mumbles. Daemon knocked against the familiar door, and it was opened by Lady Kendra. She dipped into a low curtsey when she set her eyes on Daemon. Her cheeks are flushed. I saw her lick her lower lip. I grinned. “Your highness,” she stutters.  “Lady Kendra,” Daemon acknowledges her. He put his hand behind me as he ushers me inside. My mother was sitting on the enormous chair, she rises once she saw Daemon. She curtsey, “Your highness,” she mumbles. “Lady Seline,” he murmurs, My mother caresses my cheeks. “Are you well, my child? The Mage wouldn’t let us in,” she said. I dodge her gestures and looked away. Her betrayal stings. How can she say she loves me when all she does why lie straight to my face?  “I am well, mother,” I said. I sat on the edge of the bed. “When are you coming back to Trentoi?” She was taken aback. Her eyes widened. “We leave tomorrow,” she answers. “I don’t want to go home yet. I have so much to learn here in the Academy,” I said. I couldn’t keep out the coldness from my voice. I know Daemon can sense that too. “It’s Solstice vacation. Don’t you want to see your own people?” my mother said. She used that sweet voice that used to persuade me to come with her, if only she hadn’t betrayed me. But, then she uses my people to make me bend on my own will. She knows they are my weakness.
