CHAPTER 5
MIAAfter lab the next day, Michael picked me up again and drove us to the doctor’s office for a checkup. Today marked my sixteenth week as pregnant Mia, which meant that we might be able to find out the s*x of our baby. Nothing was certain, but we were hoping we could.
My stomach was in knots the entire time, my knee bouncing wildly. Michael placed a hand on my thigh to calm me as he drove.
“What do you want to have?” he asked me, stopping at a red light.
I gnawed on the inside of my cheek and pursed my lip. To be honest, I hadn’t thought much about the s*x of the baby until the other day, when Melissa talked about hers. Whether it was a boy or a girl, I didn’t really mind. But I could tell Michael was hoping for a boy, so I smiled at him.
“A boy,” I said, watching him smile
