CHAPTER 6
MIA“Oh dear,” the doctor said, staring at the monitor with wide eyes. She pulled out her stethoscope and placed it on my stomach, brows furrowed together. “I don’t know how we missed this before.”
My eyes widened, and I squeezed Michael’s hand tighter.
“What’s going on?” I asked, unable to deal with all the suspense. My heart raced in my chest, and I sucked on the inside of my cheek. “What’s happening?”
It felt like the entire world slowed down, and all I could think about was the worst. Has something happened to the baby? Is my IUD still inside of me? Is the baby not breathing? What the hell is it?
