Whoever it was, they did not seem to want her attention, but rather her.
"Do you mind coming with me?" The person asked. His large hand, although it did not look like he was squeezing her shoulder very hard, could probably crush it easily. Sunny immediately backed away, unable to speak. The man took another step closer. "I just want to talk to you about something. Please, it won't take long."
"No," Sunny piped out weakly, and began to back away, into a bookshelf. She immediately squeaked and inched away. "Help?" She said uncertainly. "Heeee-eeelp…"
"Come with me," the man insisted, grabbing onto her arm. "Please. I just need a moment…"
"No. No," Sunny looked over her shoulder. Nobody. "Help? Someone?" She took a deeper breath. "Please, just…"
What are you doing? Get the hell out of there! The voice screeched.
I…don't want to make a scene…or further incense him…
FUCK it, let's start running NOW! The voice replied.
Sunny cleared her throat and turned around, sprinting off.
"OH NO YOU DON'T," The man said, and launched himself at her, grabbing her hand and yanking it back towards the library entrance with him. Sunny screamed and tried to wrench her hand free.
"LET HER GO!" A voice shrieked, and another hand latched onto Sunny.
The man turned around.
Mia, the girl from earlier, was holding onto Sunny with her one hand.
"Let go of her," Mia hissed. "FIRE! FIRE! THERE'S A FIRE!" She hollered.
"You shouldn't be here! Sje's not yours! She doesn't know you! I know you're not a friend of hers!"
Immediately, the man panicked and looked over at Mia, then at Sunny, then the entrance he had just come from.
The entrance doors burst open. Sunny gaped. Mia took advantage of the surprise and, with her one arm, yanked Sunny out of the man's clutches. "Run," she whispered to Sunny, and the two of them started sprinting away.
Out of the corner of her eye, Sunny saw something but couldn't bring herself to believe it.
