When I arrive at my destination, my mother is already sitting in her little swing on the porch in front of the house. I smile and wave at her as I pull up to my usual parking spot, just outside of the house. I shut off the car and take my bag from the back seat before getting out. My mother runs over to me with her arms wide open. “Hello darling! How have you been?” she asks and embraces me in a warm and comforting hug. “Hi mom. I’m fine I guess,” I answer and hug her back. “Come in, I have dinner ready. We can talk then,” she says and leads me into the house. I have called her multiple times since I left for college, but I haven’t been home since I started. Everything is exactly how it was when I left.
