Kylo's POV
"Kylo there's a meeting at the council later, will you be leaving soon?" Asked my beta, Koda.
"No, tell them I won't make it. The wolves guarding the gates last night caught some rogues last night and we are going to get some answers." I stated with my voice booming.
Koda nodded his head and followed me to the cellars, where we keep prisoners, mostly rogues. Once we reached the end of the cellars hallway, there were three cells with rogues in them. I only needed one to talk so Koda killed the first two.
Walking into the last cellar, I kicked the nasty smelling wolf awake. "f**k off, I won't tell you anything!" I raised my eyebrow and looked back at a smiling Koda. Grabbing the rogue by this throat I asked him, "What is it that your dumb Alpha wants this time?" With little breath the rogue stated, "Your head." I concluded I didn't need him to help me because more rogues will definitely come, so I gladly slit his throat.
I've already had a long morning so I mind linked with some of my pack's wolves to get this cleaned up, and decided I'd take this day to myself and some pack work. As I was headed to my office my mother happen to pass by and she saw my bloody hands. With her furrowed eyebrows she slowly walked towards me. I already know where this is headed.
"So still being an important man huh?" My mother asked
"Mother you know my actions only show in the interest of the kingdom."
"Interest of the kingdom," she mocked. "You're starting to sound like your father day by day. He's waiting for you in your office by the way." She put her hands on my cheek. "You were so curious when you were little, so innocent."
I removed her hand and placed it in both of my hands. "I couldn't stay like that anymore. I have a responsibility now mother." She smiles and slowly walks away. I know I'm not the best son, but I do what I have to do to be strong and protect my kingdom.
Now in my office I see my father standing by the window staring out of it. I went by my bar to wash my hands, and that's when he started speaking.
"You're doing well, despite what your mother says, you do indeed have a responsibility." He says to me while still staring out the window. "You can't let any distractions get to you." I turn to him. "Are you saying mother was a distraction?" I asked aggravated.
"I needed an heir, and she was there. Maybe if she was my mate I would have different feelings, but it's the system my son." He says now turning to face me. "You will do the same when you need an heir. It's a tradition. It's not a bad thing, it's just a precaution for the future."
I sit at my desk ready to punch him in the face. "What is it you're here for again, I don't have a lot of time?"
He sits down in a chair in front of my desk. "Your coronation. We need to start planning."
I look up at him surprised. "My coronation is 2 years from now. Why plan so soon?"
"You're becoming the King of Alphas. This isn't some party, it's an official entry to your new role in life. You need to make sure everything is set by the end of next year so it can be planned accordingly." With that he left, leaving me pissed.
I was already alpha of my pack, why can't it just be that way? He just doesn't want me to turn soft, but I doubt that in a million years.
A knock at the door took me out of my thoughts. "Come in." I stated.
After a few seconds I see Manny and I roll my eyes. Man this guy never stops yapping.
'I just came to inform you of the new mission. Troops from the New Moon pack will be sent to go undercover, it will be lead by Athena Carter."
I looked at him confused.
