Time To Move

Athena's POV

I walked in after the lady opened the door that look mighty heavy, and saw all the council members sitting by rank from left to right. The alpha sits in the middle, though he isn't here yet, so I sit at the panel. "Ahem!" I look at where the noise came from, and I'm caught looking at Manny. 

"State your purpose Miss Carter." I looked at him confused. 

"I thought the Alpha Kylo would be joining us this evening," I say confused.

"Not today. He had better things to do. Now on with it." He moves his hand in a 'go on' motion.

I stand and start, " Well it is simple. I feel I am the best candidate for a future mission to attain intel on the rogues. They have been getting out of hand, traveling to packs, pretending to be one of us, and possibly giving intel back to their alpha. We can't ju---" 

"We know the our problem Miss Carter. What we want to know is how can you help us get to the solution." Manny give me a fake smile. Ugh I don't like him. 

"I'm more qualified to do the job than any other. I also know that no one has jumped to this opportunity like I have, so you need the help. Sir. I'm willing to offer my aid and some of my pack members. It will be enough to not give to much attention, but to get us in with the rogues." I sit back down behind the panel.

Manny takes a look around the room meeting his eyes with everyone else's and turns back to me. Mind link. "We are going to give you this access. You'd have to report back to us ever so often, and make sure none of you are compromised..." He continued on but I just go blank. I don't like listening to his voice.

Manny and I use to be best friends until I told him I didn't want to be his mate because we both still had a chance to find our true ones. He got mad and never talked to me again, and if we saw each other within the pack he would either push me when we were close, or just stare daggers into my eyes. I'd just go on with my training, and later he found his mate, who happens to be sitting right next to him. I'm pretty sure Manny informed her on stuff about me, but I really didn't care for either of them. 

"Do you accept these terms Athena!" Manny's mate, Maddison, says from the corner of my eye. 

"I do." I said giving her a fake smile. Maddison noticed it because she rolled her eyes. "May I go prepare now?" I stand gesturing to the door behind me. They all nod and I take my leave. 

"Time to prepare the troops Adira. You ready?"
