A call from her sister..

Sarah's phone rang and she came back to her present. She took the phone and received the call. It was a call from her younger sister , Bianca. "Hey Bianca, what's up " Sarah tried to sound cheerful.
"Hey Sarah, am good. How are you and your hubby?" Bianca asked Sarah.
Biting her lips Sarah replied " Ya , we both are doing just fine." Suddenly remembering about Bianca's final exam results, Sarah inquired " What about your results."
"Yup , be proud, your sister managed to score 4.0 GPA" Bianca answered proudly.
"Oh really? Are you serious? That's really a good result, considering your attitude towards your studies" Sarah pulled her sister's leg but she was happy at the same time.
"Oh please, just because you and mom considers me dumb, doesn't actually mean that am dumb" Bianca defended and added "Anyways listen as you know I will be pursuing tourism I have applied in different universities. So I will be landing up at your place tomorrow as I have interviews in some of the universities of Massachusetts ."
Listening to her sister coming to her place, instead of getting excited, Sarah frowned. Not because she didn't want to meet her sister , but after last night's Anthony's insensitivity , Sarah wondered how Anthony would react to her sister's stay.
Irritated with Sarah's silence Bianca teased her " Sarah, aloe vera, say something idiot."
Coming back from her thoughts Sarah tried to hide her anxiousness by sounding extra happy "Hey Bianca, can't wait to see you. Run soon to me."
"OK then see you and brother-in- law soon. Bye aloe vera" Bianca joked , happy that she will be visiting her sister's place for the first time.
Nervously Sarah dialed Anthony's number but it was switched off. So she typed a message stating about her sister's arrival and send it to him. She sighed in relief for not having to directly convey this message to Anthony.
Sitting on the swing for some more time, staring at nothing in particular, Sarah's heart felt a mix of various emotions. She felt happy to be meeting her sister after 7 months and at the same time she didn't want Bianca to notice a change in her attitude. Yes Sarah did change a lot in the last few days. She smiled less now.
As she walked back inside she thought "I am in love with a man for 8 years, who is not returning my affection. Even though I can touch him, yet I cant reach his heart. In this 7 months of marriage he seemed to be drifting away from me. Despite his insensitivity I still love him. Why had he become so bitter? Is it because he thinks that I had forced this marriage on him?"
Anthony was in a meeting with Max and some civil engineers. They had recently signed a contract with an Australian hotelier, and were busy finalizing the designs . After the meeting both Anthony and Max left the conference room and proceeded to Anthony's cabin. After a tiresome meeting Anthony ordered his P.A. to get two coffees in his cabin.
Max relaxed on the couch while Anthony leaned by the big window and checked his iPhone. He switched it on and viewed Sarah's message and let out a disappointment sigh. Max understood Anthony's disappointment was related to Sarah and asked "What did Sarah do now?"
Anthony replied without looking at Max "What else, her sister Bianca is coming tomorrow to stay with us for some days. She seems to have some university interviews. The more I try to live in peace the more Sarah finds a way to interfere with it." His frustration was evident.
Not liking Anthony's attitude towards Sarah , Max straightened up and defended Sarah "I don't understand your problem with Sarah. What more you want from her? No just tell me, if you dislike her so much , why did you marry her in the first place?"
Anthony turned towards Max and grabbed a chair in front of Max "Really, you are asking me this question? As far as I remember you were the one who convinced me to get married to her. You and Sarah both knew that I din't believe in relationships or commitments. And stop accusing me of ill treating Sarah. Its not like I am cheating on her. She asked for this marriage, so she has to cope up with me."
"Oh so now you accuse me to have convinced you to settle down for good with the woman who loves you the most. You think that both me and Sarah had trapped you in this marriage, isn't it?" Max asked in a harsh tone.
Irritated Anthony got up from his chair and stood near the window again. Starring at the city skyline he spoke in a calmer tone " It's not that I dislike Sarah. Its just that I don't think I am in love with her or with any one for that matter. And yes I never wanted this marriage, from the first time itself when Sarah had proposed it."
Max opened is mouth "Unbelievable you are, man." Not wanting to continue the argument Max stood up to leave. He turned and said "Just a simple advice. Don't push her to the extent that she she chooses never to return to you. You don't know the workings of a woman's heart, my friend". He paused "Send my coffee to my cabin" and slammed Anthony's cabin door.
Sighing Anthony went to his desk and sat on his executive chair. His eyes fell on the blank photo frame on his desk. Sarah had gifted him, hoping that one day he would put their wedding photo on it. But he told her that he doesn't like to display his personnel life.
A knock came in his door. "Come in " he said.
It was his P.A. with two cups of coffee. "Thanks Robert. Can you get the other cup delivered to Max's cabin" Anthony spoke in a relatively calmer tone.
"Sure Sir" Robert replied wondering whether it is a good thing or bad thing that his boss seemed so calm.
Sipping his coffee, Anthony loosened his tie and leaned back on the chair and closed his eyes as he tried to remember the day after, Sarah proposed to him.
The distance between two hearts is far more difficult to cover than the distance of lands.
