I wanted to apologise to Lucy. I am still slightly angry but she's my sister and I need her. Diana was busy in the kitchen cooking, Ryder was out picking up his dad from the airport. I wanted to meet him but at the same time I never. I know it sounds weird, but I think just actually getting to know this man will make this situation a whole lot harder to deal with.
I went up to Lucy's bedroom and knocked on the door
"come in" I heard her say. As I walked in, I saw her on her laptop, she quickly looked away from me and started going back to watch ever she was doing, clicking away.
"What are you doing?" I asked sitting down on the bed.
"Just looking for clues on where my dad is, not that you care" she replied harshly but I can take it. "Of course, I care, you are my sister and I love you which is why I came to apologise to you. I really messed up and shouldn't have said those things. I really hope you can forgive me, and we can move past it." I said.
"Are you stupid? Of course, I will but it's not your Fault. I left you alone with a poor drunken dad. You needed me, and I should have been there. I was so selfish." She answered.
She quickly got up and hugged me.
"Girls, come down here! Damien's and Ryder's back!" Diana shouted from down stairs.
"Hey what's Damien like?" I asked standing up.
"He's nice, don't worry. You will get along just fine" she smiled as we walked down stairs. I kind of feel a bit more reassured but I'm still nervous. What if he sees right through me and knows I'm hiding stuff and lying? No, he won't, think positive.
When we got down stairs Damien and Ryder were stood by the door just getting in. Damien was hugging Diana and Ryder just stood there looking at me with a blank face. What's his deal? I didn't want to ruin anything right now, so I just smiled at Ryder.
"Lucy, it's so good to see you again. I have a surprise for you but sadly you are going to have to wait till tomorrow to find out what it is" Damien said smiling while giving Lucy a hug.
"Aww thank you, I can't wait" she laughed heading into the dining area.
"And who's this young lady" Damien asked sticking out his hand for me to shake.
"Hello, I'm Katie. Diana's niece and Lucy's sister. It's nice to finally meet you" I said shaking his hand hoping to make a good first impression. When I said my name, his facial expression seemed to change to something different, but I couldn’t make out what but then changed back to smiling before anyone noticed.
"Yes, I'm sure. So, is dinner ready honey? I have missed your lovely cooking" he said turning away from me.
Most people would answer that by saying it's nice to meet me too but he never, isn't that a little rude? Ok I mustn't think too much of it. Diana and Damien walked into the dining area, so it was just me and Ryder stood alone by the door and he still looked pissed.
"What's wrong? Bad journey or something?" I asked. He didn't answer me and walked straight past me into the dining room. What is wrong with him? Does he have a problem with me?
I walked into the dining area and sat down beside Lucy and Diana. They all spoke like a real family does, laughing with each other. I felt to out of place, I didn't know what to say and no one really seemed to bring me into the conversation.
"So, Katie, what suddenly brought you close to this family? I mean I believe you didn't know I was married do Diana and that Lucy was staying here looking for her dad who happens to be my brother?" He asked kind of sternly.
Diana gave him a weird look as if to say shut up.
"Well I became friends with Ryder and then I found out about Diana and then after I found out about Lucy. It's just a coincidence I guess" I answered trying to smile.
"A coincidence?" he asked. I just nodded and ate the last mouthful of my food.
"Ok, I will start the washing up" Diana said standing up.
"Lucy, be a darling and help her will you" said Damien.
Lucy nodded while helping Diana grab the plates before going into the kitchen.
"I need to make a call a moment" Damien said leaving the room. Once again it was just me and Ryder. He looked me angrily.
"What's wrong with you?" He asked slamming his hand down on the table.
"What do you mean?" I asked worried.
"I thought you were a completely different person. I liked that person, I....I fell for her but then I found out the truth. I have seen though all the lies, I now know the real you and I hate you, despise you. You betrayed me, you betrayed Diana and Lucy! How could you do that to us?" He asked.
Oh no, I hope he's doesn't know the truth about me. What is he talking about?
"What? What are you on about?" I asked.
"Oh, don't play dumb, Katie. You’re a great spy and great with a gun but playing dumb isn't your strong point sweetie" said Damien who walked back in with about 6 men behind him all holding guns, I was left speechless. Shit....
"I don't get how you changed, you used to be so sweet and innocent and now I honestly can't say what you are, I'm disappointed. I expected so much better" then said Diana walking over to Damien.
"But you don't understand, please give me a chance to explain" I pleaded....
