"What?!" My voice came out a mix of shock and concern. Beckie's words echoed in my ears, and my heart raced. Cassie had been in an accident and was in the hospital's intensive care unit. All the nervousness I had felt earlier paled in comparison to this devastating news.
Looking back now, it was as if I had sensed that something was wrong that afternoon. I had been restless since Cassie refused my offer to give her a safe ride home, and now this had happened, and I was left breathless, not knowing what to think or do. All I wanted was to be with Cassie.
