Ramon finally shook his head and tore his gaze away from Sapphire long enough to see the flash of red as it ran out the door. He wasn’t sure if his mind could process anything at this moment. He was still trying to make heads or tails out of what Sapphire was telling him. He wasn’t sure if what she said was true, that she was staying for good in Rome. Yes, his first love was Sapphire and yes, it broke his heart in ways he didn’t understand when she left and didn’t come back. And yes, at one point he could have seen himself marrying her.
