~ Rain
The walk back to the pack house was filled with silence, not the awkward silence though. The silence before the storm.
I was thinking of a smart way to ask Samuel about his past and somehow get him to confess. This was none of my business, but I got excessively curious after knowing that there was a sinner just like him in our pack, not only that, but he came to kill me as well, thinking that I lost my chance and that I did something terribly wrong which I was positive I did not.
I kept thinking for a few more minutes. I can begin to recognize the streets as we walked further more. I was the type that picked up directions quickly. If I went through a place once or twice, I get familiar with the streets and can go there on my own. To begin to recognize the streets only meant, that we were getting close and I had not come up with something clever to ask him. I might never be able to get a chance like this to talk to him ever again. I had to not let this opportunity go to waste. I had to initiate a conversation with him before it was too late.
"Have you found your mate?" I asked, realizing right away that it was too forward. However, I still had a spit second to make it better. "According to the rumors, you wanted me so bad to believe, you have been in search for her for a long time. Right?"
"I certainly did not tell you to believe every rumor you hear, but I said you should trust people less easily. Especially the ones that seems to be suspiciously kind." He illustrated, dodging my question.
"You have not answered my question." For some reason, I wanted to know so bad if he had been in a relationship before or not, if he found his mate or not and what urged him to come save me although I was just a rule breaker, in his book.
"I make the choice whether to answer it or not." He said, "Maybe if you answered my question, I would answer yours." His behavior was childish for an Alpha who has been all these years. I decided not to make a remark about it and go on with the conversation normally.
"And what your question might be?" I asked only because I was too curious to know the answer to my question.
"What was the actual reason you came here?" He asked. "You weren't brought here unwillingly. You came here by choice, didn't you?" How did he know that? Lucas must have told him.
"Yes, I came here willingly." I said.
"And the reason?" He asked. I was not obligated to tell him either, but I decided I will, if he was going to answer my question.
"It's a long story." I started. "I knew some people, those people proved to be disloyal and I decided to hide for a little bit when I met Lucas and he offered me a place to stay." I explained, not in details.
"And you gladly accepted his offer?" He questioned raising an eyebrow. "So you did this to make your ex-boyfriend jealous or something?" He said I would only have to answer this question, but it seemed like it was not just one question he had in mind for me. I did not say in detail, however, he understood everything. If one of the rumors about him was true then, it had to be that he was a brilliant leader, and a mastermind. All his years of living must have provided him with experience.
"No. I do not know what came over me. I would not have done this in my right mind." I snapped. He shut up and stopped asking more questions. "Now it's your turn." I paused. "Why did you come to save me and follow me all the way to the meeting place?" I decided to change the question, asking for a more pressing topic on my mind.
"I do not know why you are incapable of understanding that I followed your scent." He started. "And I saved you because you still need to go through with your verdict." s**t. I forgot about it. All his nice talk made me forget about it. "And because you seem like a good person. I would have saved you even if you did have a verdict." That made my heart flutter. I could feel my cheeks heating up meaning that I was visibly blushing. He must have caught me because I saw a small smirk spreading across his face.
"How long have you and your boyfriend been in a relationship for?" He asked.
"Oh, so we are doing twenty-one questions now. I am down." I started. "I have been in a relationship with him for as long as I can remember. He asked me out when I was really young and for some unknown reason my overprotective father was accepting of this relationship, not only that, he would scold me whenever I tell him that I did not want this, too."
"Did he have something on your father?" He asked, forgetting that it was my turn to ask.
"Oh, you will have to wait for your next turn," I paused for a second thinking of a good question. "Have you ever gone through a heartbreak?" I asked.
"Everyone does, it's inevitable. Just like death." He is one to talk. Goddess knows how long he have been alive for.
"Did you really like the guy or were you convinced by someone that you should be in a relationship with him?" The repetitive questions on this topic made me feel unconscious. And made me question myself. Did I really love him? I was devastated to find out that he cheated on me, but that could have been out of disappointed; because I thought he was such a perfection. "I can tell you do not know the answer to that, yet. I will give you some time."
"Okay my turn." I thought of something. I was not sure whether to say this or not, however, I did it after thinking briefly about it.
"What made you kill the daughter of the Moon Goddess?"
