~ Rain
"How did you know that?" I asked, my eyes slightly wide at his unexpected proclamation. Samuel made it pretty clear that I should not let anyone know, no matter who he was, my true identity. I am sure he did that for a reason. The only thing that was on my mind at that moment, was how to get out of this situation, without causing a hustle. I did not want to acquire a bad first impression from the pack members; considering the character I was supposed to represent. A respectful Luna.
"It is not hard really. Plus, I am not an i***t. Anyone could have easily noticed." He stated, arrogance laced his voice.
"How so?" I asked once again.
"My sole job in this pack is to bring the Alpha the twenty five girls every year, so he can find his mate. He clearly stated that he did not want me anymore; because he no longer had any use for me." He paused, taking a few steps forward towards me. "What would cause this sudden change of heart? Unless that he found what he have been looking for." An evil smile spread across his face. "I wonder how would the Alpha reacts if I did something... " He trailed off, thinking of the right word to say. "Bad, to you." He chuckled. "I really want to know what he would do. He does not seemed very excited that he found you, but you are still his mate, anyway. What would he do? That would make a hell of an interesting experience." He continued.
The more he spoke the more I realized how evil and corrupted he really was. He started to show his true colors. And here I was, actually starting to trust him and think that he was a good person. Only then did I fully believe that my taste in men was trash. Not once did I trust someone and not regret it. Even Stacey. I started to question if my whole life was a lie. Samuel's words started to dawn in on me. If I did go back to my pack, who would I return to. I would not have the audacity to go back to my father and knock on his door, after all what had happened. I would not go to Stacey and definitely not Caleb. I sighed, unconsciously getting deep in thought and forgetting that Lucas was still standing before me.
I snapped back to reality as I heard a different voice intervene. It was a high pitched voice that belonged to a female. I looked for the source of the voice for a second before my eyes laid on a woman in her early twenties standing by the entrance door and resting one arm against the door jamb. She was tall, had pretty emerald green eyes and beautiful, shiny blonde hair. She looked like a supermodel. I envied her a little, but shook that feeling away. An ideal Luna would not envy other people in her pack. However, I could not help but wonder if she had a mate or not.
Lucas seemed nervous by her sudden appearance, and bowed slightly to her, in respect. It meant that she was one of the members with a higher status than him.
"I am terribly sorry, my lady, if I have disturbed or woke you up." He apologized in a very elegant manner. The same way he acted when I first met him. After a couple of second, she noticed me and shoot me a small smile before she turned back her attention to Lucas.
"Who is this lady over there?" She asked Lucas, pointing her index finger at me. Lucas cleared his throat as if preparing to give a speech about me.
"She is the Alpha's new found mate. Her name, I believe, is, Rain." He announced. s**t! More people were finding out about the most important warning Samuel gave me. At this rate, I should expect the whole pack to know this by tomorrow; since obviously Lucas did not quite know how to keep his mouth shut, and for some reason, I had a feeling this lady did not either.
Her reaction was the last thing I imagined anyone at this pack to have towards me, after knowing the truth. A genuine, big smile spread across her face making her all the more beautiful. She jogged towards me, having her arms stretched out a little, as to pull me to a hug. As she embraced my into a big hug, I could feel awkwardness swirling through my guts. I was extremely uncomfortable, keeping in mind, the fact that this should have been a secret that no one knew about, until a certain time. I would love to get to know the people in the pack, yes. However, I was not comfortable enough to share my little secret.
"I am so happy Samuel finally found his mate." She wiped a tear that slipped her eyes. "You have no idea how long he has been looking for you." I noticed that she called him Samuel and not Alpha. I wonder who she could be.
"Thanks," I replied, forcing out a smile. Not quite sure if that was a suitable reply to this situation.
"Do I get to call you 'Luna' now?" She giggled.
"No not yet, I think there has to be a ceremony, right?" I forced out another smile.
"Yes, yes." She nodded. "You have to go through a branding ceremony since you appear to be from a different pack and purification ritual to be the Luna." She stated. I did not want to become part of their pack. I loved my home pack and I would want to still have its name on me. "But I can call you Luna and I will keep it between just the two of us."
"But aren't you a little put off by the fact that I am from a different pack." I spoke my mind to her.
"No, not at all. How could I be? All the people here are have different packs origins. Plus, you seem like a beautiful and a nice person. I think we should celebrate." Oh no! Samuel is going to have a surprise of a lifetime when he comes back.
"Thanks," I said, repeating myself when what I really wanted to say, instead, was 'I think his is really unnecessary.' I felt bad for having a having an attitude towards her. The lady seemed nice and considerate. I was being a spoiled brat. I wondered why I treat bad people really well, but when it came to good people, my spoiled brat side evolved.
However, there was this question still on my mind...
Who was she?
