~ Rain
I lost hope for a few minutes, thinking that my life was to end at eighteen years old. I still could feel its hot breath on my face. I could feel it getting closer and closer to my face. I held my breath and stayed very still, almost as still as a statue, having my eyes tightly shut.
For my surprise, the creature did not attack, on the contrast, it moved away, further from my face. I was still too scared to open my eyes. I stayed how I was, hearing its footsteps slightly fade away, meaning that he was walking away from me. I did not want to have my hopes up and think that it gave up on me, just to be crushed later on.
I opened one eye very slowly, followed by the other. I took a very good look around, in search for those two little red dots. However, I found nothing but darkness. The place was as quiet as death, void of any signs of life whether it was a wolf or other.
I almost sighed in relief when I suddenly, and out of nowhere, hear a voice.
"You people are so easy to manipulate." I could not figure out who was speaking, since the darkness enveloped the area, but when I turned around, I found a pair of silver eyes, staring intensely at me, studying my moves and reactions. I wondered if he was there while I was about to get eaten by a strange creature. I bet he was. I stayed silent for longer than I should have, thinking of what to say, but my mind was beyond blank. I stopped my crying and wiped the tears on my cheeks, hoping that it was not too soon.
I could feel an unexplainable aura emitting out of him. He was different. Not a wolf, for sure. His eyes were very catchy, indicating that he was something else.
Only now that I realized that there were many other creature living among us, without us knowing, and when trying to be told about it, we deny its existence. I used to as well, but now, I did not think so, unless I get a full explanation of what was going on.
"Who are you?" I managed to croak out. "Are you here to kill me as well?" I questioned.
"I am not technically here, you may say." He noted. Under normal circumstances, my mind would have raced a marathon to understand what he meant, but in this state, I did not even bother.
"Are you going to kill me?" I repeated, ignoring his remark.
"No, I am only here to observe." He stated. I felt relieved that I did not had to get up and start running again, considering how my previous attempt in running ended up like. It was not very successful. I kept in mind the likelihood that he was lying, but I could not do anything about it, so I hoped that he was saying the truth.
"What was that creature?" I asked.
"That creature is one of the beasts that fed up on the raw meat of wolves, especially in their human form. They are very dangerous and not many people know they exist. Long ago they were free, however, that was not for long. Someone imprisoned them here in this enchanted forest and never spoken of after that." He paused, correcting himself. "Only wrote about in legends and horror stories." Now I understood where I was getting that horrifying feeling towards this forest from. I had a reason and I was not being over dramatic.
Now I regretted not listening to what Samuel said and went straight to my room, where I could have slept peacefully.
"Why didn't it kill me then?" I asked again.
"As you can see it is very dark in here. These beasts cannot see in the dark just like you can't. They cannot smell that good like werewolves do either, so they only depended on their most heightened sense, their hearing." He started. "When you stayed completely still, holding your breath and not moving a muscle, the beast was not able to locate your exact location. It must have thought that you managed to run away and went searching after you." He carried on.
"Why haven't you told me this earlier?" I hissed. "And all this time we were speaking normally. It must have heard us." I took a look a round, getting up to my feet and getting ready to run as soon as I spotted those familiar two small red dots.
"They can't hear us here."
"What do you mean?" I hissed again. "The beast you are talking about was right above my face ready to eat me a minute ago." He smiled a sly smile and kept his silence. The mysterious vibe he was giving me was not very appreciated, considering the state my mind was into, I could barely even make out words to say. I tried to get closer to him, but as soon as I moved my feet, I stumbled across that dead body from earlier that I almost forgot about. I gaged, imagining how this rotting dead body must look like.
"Everyone in this pack knows about this forest. No one enters it for fear of what resides inside of it. It is just that you have just arrived here that you do not know about it. It is kept a secret between the members. However, there was always those adventurous people that did not listen." He paused for a while. "They entered, but they never made it out. The person beneath you is a vivid example of what I am trying to prove." My heart skipped a beat. Will I never be able to see the sun again?
"What do you mean? Am I trapped here forever?" I asked, my voice getting shaky as a result of how nervous I was getting. "Is there no escaping those beasts?"
"No." His answer was simple and straight forward. "Once you enter, you can't get out. Even if you somehow survived a beast attack. There is no escaping the forest. The beasts will eventually get you. In addition to, the non existence of any source of food or water in this forest. And even if there is, you will not be able to see it." Werewolves could stay alive without food or water for two months, any longer than that and they die. It may differ for Alphas and higher status wolves in the pack, though.
Suddenly, I realized something, other than my inevitable death. I could not smell the foul smell that I was smelling earlier anymore. My suspicion towards that person grew more intense, so I decided to ask him a question that he previously dodged, but I did not forget.
"Who are you?" I asked again. He paused for a while, debating whether to tell me or not.
"I think it is time you know." He paused again. "I am your destiny."
Hi again :D
I just wanted to say that the people that previously read my book on w*****d would have a good idea who 'her destiny' is. ;)
So please do not spoil anything!!
