Chapter XXVIII

~ Rain  "Don't!" Suddenly a voice spoke loudly, not to the point of yelling, but it was loud enough for a person at a few feet distance to hear. It was like as if I was snapped back to reality. I blinked rapidly focusing my vision since for some reason it had been out of focus all this time without me even noticing. I turned around to see who the person speaking was, although, I had a pretty clear idea who it might be. "Don't go in there!" Samuel warned. He started approaching me in steady steps as if I was a suicidal person about to jump over the edge of a bridge.  When he reached a safe distance he spoke, "What do you think you are doing?" "Going into the forest." My answer was as simple as it could get, just how I like answers to be. I maintained a blank expression on my face, that did not alter even after a few minutes of silence.  "If you entered this forest, you won't be able to come out." He started. "Do not even come close to it!" He sternly warned, stating the same thing that 'My Destiny' did, making me question all the more if that was really a dream.  "And why not?" I questioned. "It attracts weak willed people." He paused for a second before he continued "And people that do not know the truth about it."  "What makes you think I am weak willed?" I asked him. "You judge characters quite easily, don't you?"  "No, I do not." He replied and for once in a while, I received a straightforward answer, however, to a high extent, it was a lie. "You do not even know me that well. We just met two days ago." I argued.  "You still know very little." He stated. I was not about to argue with him about that. He had definitely lived long enough to gain the life experience not a single living wolf had.  "What about that forest that makes it so dangerous?" I tested, wanting to see if his answers matched what 'My Destiny' had previously said to me. "Is there something residing inside of it that you want to keep hidden?"  "You do not need to know about that now." He started. "All you need to know, is that the forest is enchanted and that you should not enter it... No matter what." I debated whether to tell him about what happened or not. If I tell him, he might have an understandable explanation to the situation. But then, I was not even sure if that was a dream or reality. I would not know what I was talking about. "If you do not answer me, I will go in there and find out for myself." I started. The way I saw him changed from a day to the next one. I started to actually see what the people were talking about. I thought he might be a good person at first, but turns out it was all an act, and he was quick to drop it off as soon as I found out that we were mates. I was not sure for how long he was planning to keep this a secret, nor did I understand why, but the way he thought that just because we were mates that I would instantly confide in to him was completely mistaken. I believed in second chance mates. And if he did have his –Which unfortunately turned out to be me– then, why would not I have mine, as well.  I spun on my heel and walked towards the forest when I felt his hand grasp my forearm, stopping me in my tracks, and pulling me backwards. I snatched my arm away and stared at him blankly. "Did you not hear?" He started. "Do not go in there!" He repeated.  "Well then, as the future Luna, you are obligated to tell me." I paused. "And as your mate."  "If it was up to me, I would have never asked you to be the Luna. I'm only forced to do this, if I ever wanted my curse to be broken. I hated this mate concept and I certainly do not want a mate."  "Looks like we are establishing an agreement." I shot him a fake smile. "The only reason I am here too is because of my verdict. As soon as the three months are up, I am out of this hellhole." Silence dominated after I was done talking. He seemed unsatisfied by what I said, however, he was trying his ultimate best to hold onto his blank expression.  "About being the Luna..." He started. "We need to go through with the branding steps and the ritual faster than I predicted."  "Why so?" I decided to ask.  "Do not get me started on that," He paused. "I clearly told you to go straight to your room and stay hidden, however, somehow I hear almost the entire pack discussing who that new face may be." I really did not want this conversation to be brought up. As much as I did not want to admit it. I should have listened to him that day. I am sure things would have turned out differently...  "I forgot where the room was." I pointlessly defended.  "I asked you if you knew where your room was and you said, yes."  "Well, turns out I forgot it." Now I was straight up lying. I did not plan to go straight to my room, and I could sense that he was not buying a word I said.  "You brought this upon yourself." He started. "The branding is starting soon, you should get yourself ready."  "When exactly is it beginning?" I questioned.  "In about an hour or two." Now that was quick. How am I supposed to get myself ready that fast? "When the sun is down." He elaborated. Back in my home pack they would perform rituals just after the sunset too. Well, that is a thing in common.  I looked up at the sky to find out that the sun was starting to set, displaying its undeniable beauty, reminding me of the day when this all started. The day I agreed to go to Noah's party. I realized what a mistake I had made. I should have stayed at home that night. If I did nothing of this would have happened, right?
