Isolation.

1134 Words
After that day, the day that she was slapped by her father... Carila decided to focus on her magic more. Showing to the world that she was a powerfull, noble woman that could certainely become a great Queen. The nobles were impressed and more determined to see her as Queen, which displeased the king greatly. Lafia was still trying to ease the tension between Vander and Carila while also trying to get Garnet to meet her older sister more. But so far none of it worked. Vander: That child is far too cruel and arrogant. Lafia, you must give up on her. She hates us, she even hates an innocent baby!! Lafia: She's a good girl, Vander. She's just hurt! I know that she thinks of me as nothing more than a person unworthy of the title her mother had... but I can't hate her!  Vander:  You are too kind, my love. But I cannot forgive Carila for the way she spoke about you. She went too far. The king looked over at one of the west towers of the castle. That was Carila's crypt, protected with many spells, guarding her secrets. Carila would spend hours there, never saying anything about what she was doing in there and never granting permission to anyone, not even to her closest associates.  As far as the two princesses were concerned... things were not going well. Garnet had tried many times to meet Carila, sometimes successfully and when that happened she would attempt to play and try to speak, even when she could barely say a sentence right. Carila however, was cold, hatefull and filled with nothing but disgust for her.  One day, a few maids were around when the two princesses met. Garnet had run up to Carila only to hit on a barrier Carila had casted around her. Garnet: Sissy!!! Sissy!!! At the word, Carila glared at the maids and spoke in a harsh, dark tone. Carila: Take that thing away NOW!  The maids were terrified and grabbed Garnet as they run off. Naturally that was reported to the king who went to confront Carilla. However upon learning that she was in her crypt again, he decided that this was also an opportunity to finally see what his first born was doing. As the king, he had the right to enter. Vander: Carila!!! Come out at once!!! If Carila had heard him was not known since he received no reply. He shouted again and again but no one was answering. Enraged he threatened to exile and disown her.... which resulted in a thunderstorm. The dark clouds surrounded the entire kingdom and the wind blew visciously, thunder roared and lighting striked the castle, destroying the stables in the process. Vander was shocked to see what had happened within a few seconds after he made that statement.  Lafia: Vander! What is going on?! The king turned to see the Queen, holding Garnet tightly to her chest. The little girl was crying and Vander felt fear consume him. Vander:  It's Carila! She's the one doing this!!! Lafia:  But why?! What happened?! Is she alright?! Vander:  I ordered her to come out but she ignored me. I then told her that she'd loose her right to the throne and would be exiled if she did not show herself! And that's what she did!!! Carila: You should be gratefull that's the ONLY thing I am doing after what you said. Upon hearing her voice the both turned to see her standing before them, the door to her crypt closed as the strom raged on. Vander: Carila! Stop this at once! This is an order! Carila:  You dare to order me around? When this is clearly your fault?  Lafia: Carila, I am sure your father didn't mean that. He was just angry, please stop this storm. As the future Queen you must protect your subjects!  Carila: No one asked you to speak! Do not interefere where you don't belong! And as for you, your majesty... the next time you'll think that you have the right to threaten me, the price will be far heavier and far more painfull for everybody.  After Carila spoke those words, the storm suddenly stopped. Everyone watched in shock as everything went back to normal, even the damage on the stables dissapeared. Vander looked at Carila with fear and disgust, he couldn't believe that such a monster was his child. Vander: You are a monster, hopefully you'll get married and leave this land.  Carila: Ahahahaha!!! That's a good joke... but that's her fate, not mine. Carila pointed over at Garnet who had also stopped crying, she was looking at her mother scared before looking over at Carila. The sight of her older sister smilling was rare, even though it was a sinister, dark smile... it made the little girl realize that her sister could smile. Garnet: Sissy? No sooner had the word left her mouth that Carila glared at the little girl. She didn't know why she was calling her that even after she had made her dislike to the title clear. The Queen and King stepped backwards, fear clear in their faces. Carila: Teach her not to call me that again and to never approach me again. As far as I'm concerned she does not exist.  The words tore the Queen's heart, she couldn't understand why Carila hated Garnet so much. But she knew that if she wanted, Carila could cause a lot of pain on the child, the fact that she hadn't done that so far was proof of her holding back. Lafia: Alright... but please, promise me that you won't use your magic to hurt the people of this kindgom again. Carila laughed at her words, she felt happy to see that pathetic woman recognize her inferiority. If Queen Atela was alive, surely she'd be proud of her daughter. Carila: Very well, if I get angry for... well, anything... I'll make sure not to repeat what happened today. Now, I have more things to do, this little break must come to an end.   With those words, Carila turned around, opened the door... ignored the fact that Garnet stretched her little amrs out to reach Carila while calling out to her... and got inside her crypt.  After that day Lafia made sure to teach Garnet not to call Carila "Sissy" or anything other than "Your Highness" or "Your Grace". It was painfull for both the Queen and the little princess... and it was humiliating for Vander to see the love of his life in such a sad, desperate state. He thought that killing Carila was the only thing left to do... but upon waking up with a dagger right next to him the next day he knew, he would never be able to go through with it.   It wasn't until Garnet was twelve years old that she saw Carila again... and it was this isolation that made the twelve year old curious about her big sister and why she was never allowed to meet her again. If only the poor girl knew what was about to follow, she'd wish that things remained as they were.
