The Visitors

Me and Anna where stood waiting in the great hall I had never been in here before not even to clean, it had high ceilings and beautiful paintings on the walls the large table in front of us was a dark wood with so much cutlery and glasses on I had no idea what they where going to do with it all, me and Anna where just to wait until the guests had entered the room taken their seats then we would offer out drinks first, the double doors at the end of the room where opened by two guards and in walked the king with his wife the queen, they took their seats at the head of the table, then came their children prince Arnold who was inline to become king next, princess Kimmy and the youngest child prince Mathew he was often seen wandering around he liked to talk to everyone and anyone he wasn’t a snob like the rest of them, when they were all seated I could only assume the next people to walk in where the guests a large surely looking man walked in with a beautiful blonde lady on his arm she looked pleasant smiling at everyone while he just nodded, behind them was a gorgeous girl who looked to be around my age in her twenty’s then I nearly had to pick my jaw up off the floor the most handsome man walked in the room after the girl he was tall and stocky he defiantly didn’t sit around being pampered he had a strong square jaw light brown straight short hair and the most enchanting blue eyes, I even noticed Anna beside me staring at him gob smacked I had never seen a guy so handsome in all my life, he looked a little moody like his father as he sat down on his chair but that hardly mattered, I snapped myself out of staring at him and went to get the bottle of red wine and started with slightly trembling hands to offer it out to everyone, Anna started with the king so I made my way over to the guests gulping I held out the wine the man didn’t even look at me as he held out his glass for me to fill, I moved to the lady she smiled at me politely holding out her cup the same of the girl they really seemed so nice, my heart started hammering in my chest as I moved to the handsome guest he held out his glass not looking at me either, I felt slightly deflated at his rudeness looks aren't everything I suppose just as I was about to walk away he snapped his eyes up to look at mine for a split second I swear he looked shocked, before he looked me over and his face hardened again looking away from me back at the table in front of him, I walked back to my place putting the bottle down and going to get the food that was to be served, the meal went well I managed to keep my cool and serve everything efficiently and politely the guests where beginning to leave the room the king got up from his chair “Edward we best retire to the study, I will be bringing Arnold with me if you would like to bring your boy, then the ladies my do as the please until the feast tonight” the king walked from the room with Arnold behind him and the guest who’s name I now knew was Edward got up kissed his wife on the hand bid her farewell and ushered for the handsome guy to follow him, I kept my eyes down not wanting him to catch me staring at him as he left, just the ladies were then left in the room “oh Gabriella now the men have gone how about I show you to the gardens" the queen asked the beautiful blonde “oh yes please, come on Jasmine you can join us” she motioned to her daughter they all then got up and left the room, I let out a huge sigh now that it was just the servants left in the room "well done Scarlet you did so well!” Anna beamed at me “thanks" I was souring high I had done my family proud for now anyway, me and Anna went straight to work clearing away the table, I took aload of dishes down to the kitchen myself wanting to see my mother, I saw her sweating and looking tired over a huge cooking pot her eyes shot straight to mine when she saw me “how did it go scar?" she asked me nervously "it was fine mother I didn’t mess up, well I haven’t yet anyway" she let out a sigh of relief "I knew you would do it sweet heart" she came around the stove to hug me tightly. “you do us proud my sweetheart, now go on back upstairs, I’ll have some food waiting for you after you have finished at the feast” my mother was beaming with pride, “thanks mum” I then made my way back upstairs, Anna was in the room waiting for me, "ok so all hands on dec to get the hall ready for the feast, if you need to use the toilet or anything do it now, I've also got you a drink and a light snack over on the table" Anna was so kind and helpful I really thought all the servers thought they were better than us turns out not all of them and they work just as hard I hadn't stopped since coming up here this morning, I ate the piece of bread with butter on that Anna had gotten for me and drank all the delicious milk and made my way back into the hall, flowers where being arraigned on the tables more tables and chairs were being bought in and I was tasks with putting the table clothes on the tables and the matts for the plates and cutlery to go on afterwards, after the room was ready everyone was sent out apart from the servers again, me and Anna stood in our corner joined by two guys they where friendly and helpful aswel they liked to have a joke around they were good fun, I hoped that I would be asked to serve more often from now on, silence fell in the room as the doors where opened and lords and ladies started to enter the room I didn’t know any of them but I was polite and pleasant to all of them I had gotten the hang of serving now and acted with much more sophistication than I usually did, I was offering out some appetizers to some ladies who where chatting cheerfully between themselves when I felt the hairs on my body stand on end one of the ladies looked my way then did a double take looking at something behind me, she nudged her friend who also stared at something behind me I was nervous and felt all hot and clammy I had no idea why once I had finished I turned to leave wanting to get away and take a breath but upon turning around I bumped straight into something large and hard, I knocked the tray of food straight out of my hand the tray clanging on the floor and the food every were, I dropped straight to my knees quickly picking up the tray and throwing the food on it cursing myself, as I was bent down I felt someone bend down to help me "I'm so sorry for bumping into you I didn't realise you were there" I stammered a strong hand laid itself on mine I caught my breath in the back of my throat I looked up into the eyes of the handsome visitor "it was my fault, I am sorry" his voice was deep and husky his beautiful face so close to mine, I felt myself drawn to his lips my heart hammering in my chest, I quickly snapped out of it grabbing the last piece of food I apologised again bowing slightly I realised just about everyone was staring at me I rushed from the room quick, I stopped out in the hallway I leant against the wall trying to steady my nerves s**t I can't believe that just happened I expect I’ll be sent straight back to the kitchens any moment for such a display, I walked to place the tray of food I spilled on the floor onto the dumb waiter and wait for a fresh tray to be brought up, to my surprise a new tray of appetizers appeared so I grabbed the tray taking a deep breath I walked back out into the hall as composed as I could be, my eyes locking with the handsome guest as soon as I walked through the door, why did he keep looking at me?
