Hank I woke up feeling heavy. Almost as if there was something heavy sitting on my chest. The memories of last night came flooding back. My date with Corey. Jack left our group chat. The guilt I had felt. The fact that Jack was missing. Wait! Jack was missing! I sat up as a fresh wave of guilt hit me. I grabbed my phone and spotted a text from Corey. Corey: Jack got drunk last night and crashed on his sister’s couch. I am headed there now to hopefully fix this mess. I also thought it might be a good idea for us to go away for a few days. Maybe to a cabin? It could be good for us to just spend some time together. We will talk soon. I read and re-read his text as I breathed out a sigh of relief. Jack wasn’t gone. Jack was safe.
