Basil, in a moment of weakness, reluctantly agreed to go on an outing with Peter. Leander was pleased.
Maybe the idea of life with Peter and me could appeal to Basil, Leander thought.
There was still the issue of the long term. He had admitted to himself the situation with Emil was rather convenient. That Emil was already living in the parish house and Mrs. Dawson reduced her hours was conducive to their relationship and their discretion. If things did work and Basil did leave Mrs. Shocking, they would have to think about the matter of discretion carefully.
But today was not the day for that.
Leander carefully prepared for their outing. They were going to take Peter to the zoo. A picnic luncheon and row on the pond would complete the delightful plan.
