Sue was floating, her vision blared, her breathing shallow, and her heart felt like it had stopped beating altogether. She was sure she was having an out-of-body experience.
Rick finally brought himself down enough to remember he was heavier than her and didn’t want to crush her with his weight. He slowly withdrew from Sue and lay down next to her on his back. He was trying to catch his breath and finally sum everything up in his head.
He lifted his head and stared at his mate. ‘His mate’ he smiled, he almost couldn’t believe it. He leaned forward to lick at her shoulder where his bite now branded her as though needing the contact and the evidence to reassure himself he was not dreaming. Now everyone would know she was claimed, and that she was his.
