Mate of the Dragon rider

Thousands of years ago when the kingdom needed a way to keep the borders patrolled, the king at the time chose a select group of people to become the first Dragon riders of the order. The Order has protected the kingdom in times of peace and times of war for thousands of years. The commanders of the order make sure that each rider and Dragon pair know their place. There are three sacred laws that must never be broken. All rider and Dragon pairs are taught these laws and taught to fear the consequences of breaking them. The first law is: you shall not force any evil deed, the second is: you shall not kill your beast for greed, and the third is you shall not lust after your steed. These are the laws and they must be followed without question. Or so we were told. (Adia did you have to put the rules and history of the order in the first chapter?) (Yes Kelith I did!) (Well I don't think that our readers needed to know our historical background!) (Kelith I'm not going to have this argument with you again.) (And why not?)
