Chapter 15 2015Mary leaned against one of the waist-high stone columns that anchored the new observation deck, the scent of freshly sawn pine boards sharp in her nose. More than enough of the platform had been laid to walk on, and most of the trail crew had already enjoyed the spectacular view of the gorge. Even the safety railing was in place, and Mary had to admit to herself that the thick metal beams were more than sturdy enough for herself and even a hundred others to lean against. She had no desire to walk out over that vast drop, though, to get closer to the massive boulders so far below. Mary’s rational mind knew there was no way she’d see anything left from that crash.
