It was obvious to me what he’d meant though. “I am a trueborn now.” I rolled my eyes, knowing Anukh’s logic wouldn’t convince too many of his kin. We all squeezed into the back seats of a jeep that took us straight to a small airfield outside Cairo. On the way there, Anukh made me drink another bag of blood. O positive, my former blood type. I was extremely happy my assumption the council kept a well-stocked blood supply had been right. So convenient. This was my first time on a jet, but I was too fuzzy and exhausted to really enjoy it. Despite my deep love of flying, I crashed into one of the very comfortable seats and closed my eyes. Normally, I’d have my nose stuck to the window and enjoy the view from up high. I just hoped they’d take me on their jet again when I was feeling better.
