Chapter 3

2023 Words
I closed my eyes, not wanting to see Klaus in this state. His constant mood changes were giving me a headache. “You’re freezing,” Klaus muttered, finally pulling his lips away from mine. “It took you long enough to notice.” I snapped. “I’m sorry, I just- I, argh! Never mind. Just use the shower.” He sighed, getting off me. “I don’t have any clothes.” I commented. “Here,” He said searching in a drawer, and handing me a white top and black skinny jeans. I stared at him questioningly. “Another female lives in this house,” He said blankly. “Oh so you’ve been sleeping around with sluts I see,” I snapped. “Aw, are you jealous?” He asked, striding over to me and wrapping his arms around my waist. “Of some b***h sleeping with you? No.” I snapped, pushing him off. “You’ve always been too proud. Learn to control that or it’ll get you dead.” He hissed. “Where’s the bathroom?” I asked, ignoring him. “Right here,” He said opening a door and revealing a blue and green bathroom. “We’ve got our own private bathroom.” Klaus grinned. “And is that supposed to excite me?” I snapped, walking in and trying to shut the door. “Soon you will fall for me.” Klaus stopped the door from closing, “Again.” He whispered, pecking my lips again. “Argh!” I yelled, slamming the door in his face. My anger could have probably been enough to heat myself up. And to top it all off, my powers were complete drained. I probably wouldn’t be able to use for a week or two. I heard Klaus chuckle, and sighed. How did this happen? I’ve spent years on the run from him, and I end up in his apartment. Life was messed up. I sighed again, trying to calm myself down. I turned on the shower, and let the heat flood my vision. Soon I was warm enough, so I stripped out of my clothes, and washed myself. My hair was covered in leaves and other filth. After a good massaging and practically scrubbing my skin raw, I stepped out of the shower only to realize I didn’t have a towel. “s**t,” I muttered, mentally slapping myself. I tip-toed over to the door. “Klaus,” I called out. “What is it?” I heard him ask from the other side of the door. “I need a towel,” I sighed. I heard him chuckle, and then I heard footsteps. “Here you go,” He said opening the door just a little bit. I grabbed the towel and tried closing the door immediately, but Klaus was stronger than me. He kept the door open with ease. “Do you want me to come in and help you get…dried off?” He asked seductively. “No thanks. I’m good.” I said, quickly wrapping the towel around myself, just in case he decided to come inside. “Too bad. I’m coming in.” He said and then he pushed the door open. I stood frozen like a deer caught in the headlights. “Your hair’s clean again,” He murmured, walking over to me and gently tugging at my dark hair. “Yeah, now since you’ve inspected my hair why don’t you let me change,” I said trying to push him out the door. “Let me give you a massage,” He whispered, intertwining his fingers with mine. “Uh n-no thanks,” I stuttered, blushing. “Aw, I made you blush.” He said softly leaning in closer. Not again…I closed my eyes waiting for it to be over. “I love the smell of your hair,” He muttered. I opened my eyes to find him leaning in really close to me, but sniffing at my hair. “You’re crazy, you know that.” I whispered. “Only crazy for you, babe,” He smirked. “Urgh, that was so pathetic.” I groaned. “I know,” He chuckled, “I saw it on a show and wondered if it actually would work. I guess not.” He smiled. “Can I change now?” I asked again. “Fine, but I was serious about the massage. Let me give you one.” He said letting go of my hands and wrapping his around my waist. “Klaus, get-” He placed a finger over my mouth, and I sighed in frustration. “Say my name again.” He begged. I raised my eyebrows in confusion. “Please,” He begged. I glared at him as he chuckled. “I’ll stop pestering you if you say my name.” He chuckled again. “Please,” He begged again. Eventually I had had enough of his incessant begging. “Klaus,” I muttered blankly. “Well that was no good. Say it like how you used to say it before. When we used to sit by the lake. Our lake.” He whispered and a vision of a beautiful lake surrounded by green mountains and trees, danced before my eyes. I remembered sitting by the lake side with Klaus. We would laugh and talk there. I remembered calling it our lake once… “You remembered,” He smiled, staring at my face. “Yeah I do,” I whispered, remembering all the times he would hold me. “We can still have that.” He whispered in my ear. “No we can’t.” I snapped. “Are you sure?” He asked, and his teeth grazed my earlobe. I clenched my hands into fists. He was making it really hard to maintain my self control. “Yes,” I sighed, “I’m sure.” “Just give in. I know you want to,” He whispered, grazing my earlobe again. I gasped as I felt his hands snake up my back, and start tugging at my hair. “Just say those three words, and I’ll give you the happily ever after that you’ve always wanted,” He whispered, pulling my head back to expose my neck. “Klaus, what are you-” “I love you,” He whispered, before biting down on my neck. I gasped in pain as I tried to push him off me. He only pulled me closer, and bit down harder. A vampire biting another vampire was a sign of commitment. You bonded. I didn’t want that with Klaus, not anymore. “Klaus!” I yelled, pushing him off me. He stumbled out the bathroom, and I shut the door in his face. I sighed as I walked over to my clothes, and slowly started putting them on. My neck was covered in blood, but the wounds were slowly healing. I stared at the white towel, now covered in blood. This bipolar monster was not Klaus, and I needed to remind myself of that fact. I couldn’t fall for his pretenses. I washed off the blood from my neck, then dunked my hair under the tap. When I pulled my head out of the tap again my hair was sopping wet and dripping all over the clothes I was wearing. I didn’t care. I sighed before opening the door and seeing Klaus sitting in the floor, against the wall, opposite me. “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done that. Are you okay?” Klaus asked all these questions as he ran up to me and checked my neck. “I’m fine. I just want to go now.” I whispered. “You still don’t want to stay?” He asked, and as much as he tried to hide it, I could see the hurt on his face. I nodded my head, not meeting his eyes. “But I…I…” He trailed off. “Okay,” He sighed. I looked up to see him staring at the ground. My arms instinctively wanted to cradle his face in my hands, to tell him everything was alright. That’s also what my heart wanted to do. But I’ve learned not to trust my heart in times like these. So I listened to my brain, and walked to the bed. I sat down, staring at my petite hands. “You were always so tiny,” Klaus muttered softly. I glanced up at him and he strode over to me, and knelt in front of me so that I looked down at him. “I remember teasing you, constantly, about how tiny you were, and that some people might mistaken you for a child.” He laughed lightly. “You didn’t.” I said softly, staring down at him. “That’s because I fell for you. I didn’t care what you looked like, and I still don’t.” He whispered. He grabbed my hands gently, and lifted them so that he could stroke his face with my left hand. “Klaus, just let me go home,” I sighed. “If that’s what you want.” He whispered. He stared at me and I nodded. Klaus looked at the ground, and that was when my instincts got the better of me. I pulled his head up and I stared at the tear running along his face. I inhaled for a second, and then leaned in closer. My lips touched the tear and I kissed it away. “Why do you torture me? If you don’t love me, then just say it. Don’t make me play your foolish games.” Klaus choked out. “The truth is…I still do love you,” I whispered. Stop this! Run away now! A voice inside my head screamed at me. “Then stay with me,” He begged again. I was about to shake my head when he added, “Just for one night. And if I don’t show you that I’m still the same, well then you can leave and I’ll never look for you again.” He promised. I stared at him for a second, wondering if I should listen. Then I remembered the scene at the graveyard. I was devastated by the fact that he was dead. Now here he was, wanting me to spend the night with him. “Okay,” I sighed. I knew that this would only make things worse. I might as well give myself a little joy before all hell breaks loose. “Thank you,” Klaus said before crushing his lips to mine. I wrapped my hands around his neck and kissed him back. The next thing I knew was that I was pinned against the bed, Klaus was on top of me, and he was kissing my neck. “Klaus, please stop,” I begged. He didn’t listen. So I decided to pull his head up. That didn’t work, it just made him kiss me more fiercely. He moved his lips back to mine and started kissing me again. My hands were placed on either side of me, and he entwined our fingers. “Aria, please say it,” He whispered, pulling away. “Say what?” I asked. “Tell me you love me,” He begged. I thought this was another one of his games, but when I looked at his face, he seemed so desperate. “Please. I need to know…” “Klaus, I…I love you,” I uttered the words that changed me forever.
