I had a secret crush on William Hayes for seven years. Then, unexpectedly, I became Mrs. Hayes, and everyone around mocked me for aiming too high.

My mother-in-law and sister-in-law belittled me, while my husband ignored my existence.

They even went so far as to send me pictures of him in bed with his first love!

Faced with all this, I finally slammed a divorce agreement in front of William Hayes.

After the divorce, my life blossomed. I frequently made headlines with young, fresh faces.

A top male celebrity: "Sorry, but she's the real boss behind my success."

A rising tech entrepreneur: "As the major shareholder of my investment firm, she's the woman I admire most."

The head of an elite family: "Olivia Martinez is the sole designated heir of our family."

William panicked and regretted it. "Hey, my ex-wife, can we get back together?"

I flashed a carefree smile and walked away. "Sorry, sir, but...do I know you?"

Chapter 1 The Unexpected Birthday Gift
Olivia Martinez was busy in the kitchen, making a cake, humming a tune. It was her husband William Hayes' birthday. She had spoken to him early in the morning, asking him to come home early for dinner, promising to make him his favorite mousse cake. In fact, she had been practicing for a month just to perfect her craft. After finishing the cake, she carefully packed it up and placed it on the coffee table, a smile spreading across her face. Just then, the doorbell rang. Olivia looked up in surprise, quickly rubbing the flour off her hands on her apron as she jogged to the door. However, when she saw who was standing at the door, a brief flash of disappointment crossed her face. It wasn't William. It was his mother, Rachel. Rachel pushed past Olivia, strutting into the house and sitting down on the sofa, propping one leg up. "Get my slippers and change my shoes." Olivia pressed her lips together, feeling a little embarrassed. "Ma'am, this is the maid's job." Rachel shot Olivia a disdainful glance, her words sharp and biting. "The maid is busy. Do you think everyone has as much free time as you?" Olivia thought about how today was William's birthday. She decided against arguing with his mother, knowing it would ruin his birthday when he came home. Slowly, Olivia knelt down, took off the high heels from Rachel's feet, and put on slippers for her. Rachel glanced at the cake on the table and casually picked it up to inspect it. "You made this? It's just like you—ugly and cheap." Rachel slammed the cake back onto the table. The cream on it splattered, its shape ruined. Seeing her hard work being trampled on, shame and humiliation surged in Olivia's heart. She glared at Rachel, anger rising in her chest. "Ma'am, today is William's birthday. I made this cake especially for him!" Rachel scoffed, her voice dripping with disdain. "No matter how much you do, it's useless. William will never like you. Even though you already forced him to marry you, he will only hate you. You might as well divorce him and make space for someone else." Olivia knew Rachel was speaking the truth, but she still tried to defend herself. "No, that's not true... William has been much nicer to me recently. Look, he even promised me he would come home for dinner tonight!" William rarely came home, let alone for dinner. Olivia felt this was proof that William was starting to warm up to her. Rachel sneered, cutting Olivia off. "You plain, stupid, disgusting woman. What are you fantasizing about? Do you really think he's fallen in love with you?" Olivia felt a dull pain in her heart, as if it had been struck hard by a mallet. But she still answered firmly, "He will fall in love with me... Soon." Rachel's sharp laugh rang out, as if mocking Olivia's naivety. "Let me tell you, Grace has returned today. Soon, William will be back with her. Only Grace deserves William, not you, you useless woman!" After saying that, Rachel turned and left with a dismissive click of her heels, leaving Olivia frozen in place, unable to process the news. Grace Thompson was William's first love, his only official girlfriend. After Rachel had married William, Grace had gone abroad. But now, she had returned? But William was already married—he was her husband! Would he go see Grace? Would he reignite his relationship with Grace and start something new? Rachel felt a chill all over her body, uncontrollably shivering. She wasn't sure what he would do. After all, he had never loved her. His heart had always belonged to Grace. Rachel picked up her phone, ready to ask William if he knew about this. She dialed several times, but he didn't answer. Rachel tried to comfort herself in her mind, 'He's probably still busy with work. He wouldn't... He wouldn't cheat on me.' Just as she put the phone down, it rang again. It was actually a message from William. Her fingers trembled as she opened the photo. In that instant, it felt as though she had fallen into a winter lake, the chill seeping deep into her bones. In the photo, a distinguished man was sitting on a hotel bed beside an alluring woman clad in a bathrobe. The woman smiled charmingly and sweetly, while the man behind her was tying the belt of his bathrobe. His strong muscles were looming under the bathrobe. It was self-evident that what had happened between them just now. Blood drained from her face. She felt as though all the blood in her body had suddenly stopped flowing. And then, anger, humiliation, and disgust surged within her all at once. Her stomach churned, and a sour taste began to rise in her throat. The man was William, and the woman was none other than Grace. Her husband cheated on her with another woman and sent her a photo! Despite knowing that William did not love her, Olivia was still his wife. How could he possibly do this to her? Did he really consider her as his wife? With a beep, Olivia's phone received another message. This time it was an unknown number. "Have you received the photo? This is Grace. I'm back. Olivia, you shameless b***h! You only married William because you saved his mother. It's time for you to step aside! I'm the one William truly loves!" Olivia's mind instantly went blank. She wanted to scream, to cry, but no sound came out. She felt as though her entire body had gone numb. She had thought that he would develop feelings for her sooner or later after they got married, but she was wrong. Three years into their marriage, William's neglect made Olivia feel invisible at home; he never inquired about her life nor even came close to her. Now that Grace was back, William couldn't wait to jump into bed with her. This must be the difference between being loved and not being loved. Olivia suddenly felt that the effort she'd put into these three years had been nothing but a joke. During these three years, she was the only one to try to make their marriage work. William never cared. All her strength seemed to vanish at that moment. 'I want a divorce,' she resolved. In a daze, she went out and hailed a taxi, heading for William's company. The secretary stopped her in front of his office door. "Sorry, Mr. Hayes is in a meeting. You cannot go in to see him." Olivia was about to say something when she caught a glimpse of the trash can nearby and saw the remnants of food inside. It was the breakfast she had brought him. Not only had Mr. William not eaten it, but he had thrown everything into the trash. Olivia lowered her gaze, a cold glint flashing in her sapphire eyes. When she raised her head again, her expression had hardened. She pushed past the secretary and marched straight into the office. "Move! I need to see him now!" She was determined to end this failed marriage, once and for all. As she was about to push the office door, it opened. Grace emerged with a triumphant smile. "Oh, Olivia? Why the rush to see William?"
