Chapter 8 You're Still A Bit Green

947 Words
Olivia and Ryan strolled over to the jewelry counter. All the jewelry on display was brand new for the season. The cheapest bracelet was priced at 170,000 dollars, and the necklaces cost hundreds of thousands to millions. As soon as they got close, they overheard a flattering voice coming from the next counter. "Grace, this necklace really suits you. It's like it was custom-made just for you!" "Yeah, no one else could wear this necklace as well as you do." "Grace, Mr. Hayes cares about you so much. He will definitely buy it for you!" Grace relished everyone's flattery, her face showing a timely hint of understanding. The embarrassment of just being snubbed by William was instantly brushed aside! Of course, she wouldn't pass up this perfect moment to show off, so she raised her eyebrows and said, "This necklace is too expensive; I won't accept it. Even if William is rich, he shouldn't squander money like this." The women surrounding Grace laughed, and just as she had wanted, began to eagerly praise the fine qualities of her facade. "Grace, you are so thoughtful. You aren't even married yet and you are already trying to save Mr. Hayes money. He is truly lucky to have you." Grace lowered her head to hide her glee and smiled shyly. "Don't say that. William hasn't said he wants to marry me yet." "It's only a matter of time. You two have known each other since you were kids." Hearing their conversation, Olivia let out a derisive laugh. Grace really thought of herself as William's future wife. Noticing her expression, Ryan glanced at the necklace around Grace's neck and asked Olivia casually. "Do you like it? I'll buy it for you. I heard that only three of these necklaces exist." Olivia slightly raised her eyebrows and said, "No, I don't like it. Someone else has worn it." Ryan smiled. "You're right. It looks good, but it's not worthy of you." Grace's face darkened instantly upon hearing this. The necklace around her neck suddenly made her awkward. After someone had complimented how the necklace suited her, Ryan's comment that it wasn't worthy of Olivia felt like a slap in Grace's face. Was he saying that Grace wasn't as good as Olivia? How could she swallow her anger? "Not worthy? I think you just can't afford it." Ryan glanced at Grace, his eyes cold. "Are you implying that I can't even come up with a few million dollars?" Grace realized that the person in front of her was the spokesperson for this jewelry brand. How could he not afford it? She didn't dare offend the spokesperson, so she vented her frustration on Olivia. "I admire Ms. Martinez for comfortably using another man's money right after her divorce." Olivia's lips curled into a slight sneer. "Not as impressive as Ms. Thompson, who is eager to use men's money even before getting married." Grace's face turned sour. Olivia had been labeled a gold-digger after only William's money. So, Grace was very sensitive about it, fearing being branded another Olivia. She had to be better than Olivia. But now Olivia had bluntly exposed her intentions. Not wanting to bother with Grace, Olivia turned around and went shopping elsewhere with Ryan. ***** In a secluded corner by the swimming pool, Olivia was resting on a sun lounger. The shimmering water reflected on her face, making her look serene and extraordinary. Grace's face was clouded as she walked over step by step. Olivia had already been abandoned by a wealthy family. How could she still attend such an upscale party? And yet, William seemed to be interested in his ex-wife. No matter how hard she tried to tempt William, he remained unmoved. "Ms. Martinez..." Unperturbed, Olivia looked up at her and asked, "What's the matter, Ms. Thompson?" Grace's smile gradually became ferocious and twisted as she shed all her pretenses where no one was around. "Ms. Martinez, you're really something. When I sent you the photo, I thought you didn't mind. I never expected you to have such a big move up your sleeve." Olivia raised an eyebrow, her gaze chilling. "Ms. Thompson, have you been enjoying yourself these past few days?" Grace gritted her teeth. Although the trending topic had been taken down, she had been torn apart by netizens. Even now, people would occasionally berate her as a "homewrecker" on her personal account, making it hard for her to sleep well! And all of this was thanks to Olivia right in front of her! Grace approached her step by step, walking to the edge of the pool, and sneered at her. "No matter what tricks you pull, William will never be with you again. How about we make a bet, Olivia?" Olivia was already divorced, yet she made such a big fuss about Grace and William's matter!! Today, Grace had to make this woman see just how pathetic a discarded, divorced woman could be!! "Bet on what?" Olivia wanted to see what tricks Grace was up to! "Let's bet. If I fall into the water with you, will William save you or me?" Olivia followed Grace's gaze and saw William watching them by the French window. "Sorry, I've divorced William. I have no interest in playing this boring game with you." Grace sneered, gripping Olivia's hand and planning to pull her into the pool. "It's not up to you, Olivia. I... Ah!" Before Grace could finish, Olivia gently curled her lips into a smile and had already lifted her leg, kicking Grace into the pool. Olivia looked down at her from above. "How foolish. You think you can scheme against me? You're still a bit green!"
