A lucky escape 1

After Daniel's mom left the room Anna hugs Daniel. "Do you think something bad happened to Jim?" Anna asked looking at him innocently.

" Why would you say that?"

Anna sat down at the end of the bed feeling stressed. Daniel sat beside her.

" Because when he found out that I was cheating on him with his 'half brother ' he probably went to the bar and got drunk. And maybe on his way home he encounters with something bad or something!" at the end of the sentence she freaked out.

Daniel tried to calm her down and comfort her. " Don't think like that. He might have left the city just clear his head. " he said hugging her.

" But why didn't he let everyone know so that we wouldn't be thinking some stuff like these?"

" He probably forgot. Anyway let's go and take a walk around the garden." he changed the topic so that she won't any more questions.

*** At Emily's apartment***

When Emily came back from the station she felt very wronged. How will she managed to take care of the stranger if she doesn't even have a job to pay for the house bills and expenses.

Thinking of a job, she went to her computer and began searching for a job on a websites on random companies. An hour later she posted her CV online just in case someone would like to hire her.

After shutting off the computer she went to Jim in the living room who was watching the television. When she got to him she tried talking to him asking his name. But with him not speaking she decided to give him a nickname.

" Alright I'll nickname you as.... " she thought for a suitable name, but only she could come up with was... " Little cub!"

After realizing what her little brain came up with, she suppress hear laughter. She then thought of another name.

" Mhm... how about..." seeing nothing popping up in her mind, she decided to call him little Cub.

She smiled and surprisingly, he smiled back at her without even knowing what's going on.

" Now let me go and cook dinner." she said happily.

After making dinner she bathe Jim (little cub) before having dinner. She was so shy when she bathe him for the first time. She was so gentle afraid of hurting him.

*** at the Johnson's mansion***

After everyone finished their breakfast, Mr Johnson went straight to his office to find out about his missing son. In the office he received a call from his friend (Richard) who was the in charge of the whole city's police station.

" We found some information about when he was last seen." the voice came out in the other end.

" What did you find?" Mr Johnson was getting impatient already.

" He was last seen at a bar close to his company. Apparently, he went there and go really drunk. He left there probably at 12 pm, midnight."

" And? "

" we only found that, we are still busy looking."

Outside his office, Mrs Johnson who was standing at the door heard the conversation. She went to call Daniel to come to her room.

After they were the only ones in the room, Mrs Johnson made sure to lock the door in case someone would come in without knocking.

" What are we going to do about this? " Daniel was shocked.

" Are you sure it was him?" Mrs Johnson asked just to make sure.

" yes. The man said he was the man on the picture we gave him sitting on a wheelchair." he said keeping his voice down.

" Then we have to find her before anyone else does." Mrs Johnson said with a bad expression on her face. " Do they know where she lives?"

" no, I doubt."

" Listen, here's the plan. Tomorrow you go to city X and look for her."

" But what do I tell dad and Anna? " Daniel thought it was a good idea but what will he say to his dad? Wouldn't he find it suspicious?

" Just tell them that you are going visit your friend's mom's funeral and live the rest to me." Right now Mrs Johnson could do anything to see Jim dead. She had come this far for her son to get the inheritance, how could she give up like that after waiting for so many years. She thought that after Jim is gone, the her husband will have no choice but to give Daniel his inheritance.

" okay then I'll be in my room."

" Good night."

the next morning, Daniel woke up early and drove to city X. It only took him 4 hours to get there. When he got there, he booked a hotel for him, before he could meet up with the two policemen who he payed to be in charge of Jim's case.

When Emily woke up, she decided to check out his computer to see if any company has accepted her yet. She got happy when she saw the email coming from the biggest brand saying that they would like to have an interview with her.

Emily jumped with joy as she screamed. When she realized that she woke Jim up, she immediately apologize.

" oops. Sorry Little Cub." she said with excitement. All Jim could do was to smile since he had no idea what's going on.

" I can't believe I have found a job within a short period of time after getting fired on my last one!" Emily quickly went to Jim and hugged him.

For some reason she didn't want to let him go cause the hug was warm. After coming back to reality she quickly went over to the computer to see where is the place. When she saw the place she almost fainted.

Turns out that the company was in another country. she didn't know what to do. Her interview was in a week and she needed to arrive there earlier so that she can find someone taking care of Jim.

She sat in her chair helplessly and looked at Jim. Jim was dumbfounded and and just kept looking at her with a smile. When he revealed his dimples, it made him look more cute than handsome. Seeing his smile, Emily went to sit next to him.

" You want to go somewhere else?" she asked as if he will answer her. She nodded and he nodded back. Emily found this funny as it was just like teaching a baby.

" okay. I will take that as a yes." she went to her closet and took out a bag where she puts all of he savings and counted it. After that she booked two tickets and their plane was scheduled at 14:00pm.

After that she made breakfast, pack her stuff and only Jim had fewer things. Seeing the few clothes she packed for Jim. She decided to buy him more clothes in the future.

After getting some details of the girl he is looking for, he drove to the address given by his assistant. When Emily packed everything she needed she locked the door and leaves when her uber was outside.

When she got Jim in the car she remembered that she forgot her passport. She got frustrated as she had to climb on the stairs again. after she went to her apartment. Daniel arrives at the building.

Looking at the tall building he didn't know where to start searching for her as he didn't get her room number. When he went inside he decided to take the stairs without wasting anymore time. At the same time Emily was rushing downstairs when they bumped into each other...
