The missing CEO

Starting afresh

When their flight landed in country M, Emily had already planned everything before taking off in Country L( City X). So she wasn't worried where will they sleep tonight. From the airport, they took a cab to their rental house.

After arriving at their house, Emily cooked dinner before taking a shower. After that she went through her phone and called her mom. After two rings she heard a voice...

"Hey Emily." her mom sounded excited.

" How are you mom." she tried keeping her voice steady as she didn't know how will her mom react when she finds out that she flew to another country.

" I will be fine if you tell me that you are finally coming over."

" yeah.. about that..." she didn't know how to break the news to her.

" You are coming over, right?"

" Well... I'm in country M right now."

" What!? Why?" her voice was full of disappointment. She only wanted to her to come back so that she can introduce her to someone.

" It's because I found a job and it really pays very well." Although she doesn't know how much she'll get paid.

" But I wanted to introduce you to someone else."

Emily didn't know that the whole reason for her mom to force to come home was because she wanted to introduce someone to her. She was slightly surprised.

" Who's that?"

Before her mother could respond Emily bid her good bye when she saw little Cub struggling to get up.

" mom I'll talk to you later, something just came up. " she rushed to Jim.

*** at the Johnson's mansion ***

The next morning, at the breakfast table, Mr Johnson ordered Daniel to go to his office after breakfast. Daniel got a little nervous after hearing say that. He lost his appetite and didn't eat much. He and his mother kept exchanging looks.

After breakfast he went to his office. When he got to the door he stood there for a second calming himself down before knocking.

when he was given permission to enter, he opened the door slowly while peaking.

" Hurry up and sit down." Mr Johnson said in a calm deep voice.

When he was seated he waited for his father to explain why he called him. when he was that his father only looked at him without saying anything he shrank and got scared.

His gaze was intense as is he was waiting for him to tell the truth. Few minutes passed and no one hasn't said anything. He summoned up his courage and spoke first.

" Father, you called me." his voice was a little shaky but Mr Johnson didn't notice as he was lost in his thoughts.

When he got no response from him, he asked again.

" Father did I do something wrong?"

When he realized that Daniel was talking to him he got straight to the point.

" I need you to take over Jim's company for the time being." he looked at him seriously.

" But, what about mine?" Daniel was surprisingly happy with this decision. He always wanted to be the CEO of jMj. It was the number one company in City G. unlike his company that was still recovering from debts he owes.

" Don't worry, I already called Suzen, your cousin to take care of it. She will arrive tomorrow morning." his expression remained the same.

" Oh ok " Daniel was quite happy, he didn't expect that one do he'll finally run that company.

' I guess getting rid of Jim wasn't bad after all ' he thought to himself smiling.

" you can leave."

After getting up from his seat, ready to go, he says....

" Thank you, father."

*** in country M ***

They had separate rooms. Emily was happy when she had her own room, it means that she won't be sleeping on the couch anymore.

Today she woke up late as she hadn't been getting enough sleep lately. When she checked the time it was almost 12 in the afternoon.

She went to the bathroom, brushed her teeth and washed her face.

After staring at herself in the mirror thinking about what the man she bumped into yesterday in Country L said, she blushed as she recalls what he said. 5 minutes later she leaves and went to check up on her little Cub.

He was sound asleep when she entered his room. When she got to his bedside, she knelt down and caressed his face. She said to her self in a low voice.

" I wonder what's your name. I may not be the best but I'm going to make sure I take good care of you so you can go back to your family. I'm sure they missed you already. " She got emotional and tried to control her tears. She continues..

" I know how it feels like to lose someone you looked up on and love them with all your heart. I just hope your family is strong and won't give up on you."

She raised her head and met Jim's gaze. She smiled bitterly. Jim was sleeping soundly but he was woken up by the sudden sobs. He sat up on his bed looking at the girl in front of him who buried her face with her hands. He felt a heartache, and couldn't understand why. To be honest he wanted to wipe her tears and embrace her, but since he could speak nor walk, felt helpless.

He felt sorry for her as it was his fault that she was in this situation. He will make sure to repay her after he recovers. And for his brother, he wanted to revenge him for stealing his fiance.

when Emily realized she was crying in front of him, she immediately wiped her tears and said..." forgive me, Little Cub. I didn't mean to wake you up."

Hearing her calling him Little Cub, he got a strange warm feeling in his heart. If it was someone else he would already be angry, no one dared to call him other names except his real one. Even his ex fiance calls him with his real name.

" let's go and wash your face before I start making breakfast, okay?" Emily helped him to the bathroom and after that she took him to the living room to watch TV while she makes breakfast.

After she finished making breakfast she feeds him. Actually Jim could eat on his own, but Emily just got used to it and treated him like a baby. That's where she got the name Little Cub from.

When she was done she washed the dishes on the sink and prepared Jim's bath. Every time when it was time for this, Emily would come out of the bathroom either her face is red or she's embarrassed.

At first Jim didn't like it being bathed by a stranger, but once he got used to it, he enjoys watching her face turn red All the time when he takes off his clothes. If he was able to talk, he would be teasing her to death.

Today Emily decided to buy a few clothes for Little Cub as he didn't have many. It was only a pair of jeans and a shirt she bought for him while he was still in the hospital.

Before she leaves she calls an Uber, she didn't like taking an Uber but since she sold her car to buy the tickets for their flight, she had no choice. After the Uber got there she locked the door and leaves with Little Cub.

At the store she got into was the cheapest of the all. She felt embarrassed about what will Little Cub think. But she had no choice because she needs to save money.

To Jim he has never worn cheap clothes in his entire life, he only wears designer clothes and shoes. But since since Emily brought him here, he starts to like it living a normal life. The only thing he ever wished for. Looks like he was enjoying this new lifestyle with no money. And it's even better starting afresh with the girl in front of him. She was way different than Anna. If it was her here, she would be spending a lot of money in clothes and going to restaurants every day to eat. He loves Emily's cook, her food tests better than the food the chefs at home cooks.
