CHAPTER 1: I NEED A DIVORCE
I died on my third anniversary.
My husband pressed a pillow on my face while my best friend held my legs tightly ,all for my father's company.
But God gave me a second chance.
Before I died, I was the happiest fool in the world.
I woke up that morning and baked his favorite vanilla cake. I wore his favorite white gown. I lit candles. I even bought the expensive wine he likes. Because Henry told me he had a big gift for me today.
The gift was divorce papers.
Nyla, I need a divorce, he said. He didn't shout. He said it like he was bored of me.
My heart dropped into my stomach.Henry, what did you say?"
I said I need a divorce. I don't love you. I have never loved you.
I laughed because I thought he was pranking me. "Stop, Henry. It's not funny."
"It's not a prank, Nyla. Do you think a man like me would love a girl like you? Naive, clingy, crying over everything? I only married you because of the agreement with your father."
Your father has no son. He is old and sick. He was scared that after he dies, his board members will chase you out because you are just a woman. So he gave his company to me to hold for you. A man to protect you. He said if in three years you have a child for me, the company will go to you and your child, and I will leave. If you don't have a child after three years, the company becomes mine forever, as his son. Your father did it to protect you, Nyla. He loves you so much."
He stood up and poured more wine. "But I don't want to leave empty. So Vivian and I made sure you will never have a child. Small drug in your tea every morning. You never noticed, did you? You are so foolish."
Then the door opened. My best friend Vivian we have been friends for years.she walked in wearing my red anniversary dress the dress I thought Henry bought for me.And her belly was swollen she was Pregnant.
"Hi, Nyla, she smiled, rubbing her belly. "I'm three months pregnant. For Henry.
My legs could not carry me again. I fell, Hard. on the floor.
"You? Vivian, you are my best friend..."
"And you always reminded me of that, didn't you? Rich girl Nyla, always helping poor Vivian. I am tired of being the poor friend. Now I will be the rich wife. And my child will own your father's company, everything you walked for would be mine, your life, your man and a child.
I crawled to him. I held his shoes. My tears were on his shoes. "Henry, please don't do these to me i have loved you all my life.
He kicked my face then I hit the table. Blood gushed out from my forehead.
Vivian shouted, "Henry! You said we will just divorce her! Not kill her.
If she runs, we lose everything! She must die today!"
He grabbed a pillow and pressed it hard on my face.
I struggled. I kicked. I scratched his hands. But he was too strong.
Vivian held my legs tightly. "Hold her! Don't let her move!" he shouted.
I could not breathe. My chest was burning. Tears rushed from my eyes and soaked the pillow. I was choking on my own tears.
I tried to call my father. Dad..." but the pillow swallowed my voice.
My hands fell slowly. My tears were still falling even as I died.
I died smelling his perfume
"Nyla! My darling! Come downstairs quickly! Your father want you to meet someone. His name is Henry!"
I screamed and sat up.
My face , no blood, my hands no cake.
I was in my large bedroom. The date on my wall. Three years ago. The day I first met Henry Williams.
I am back and i am 22 years again
