I had always hated the waiting room. It was painted an exuberant yellow that I supposed was meant to be cheery. Instead, it was nearly blinding on a sunny day like today with bright light streaming through the windows. In the corner was an area set aside for kids. Various toys and children’s books were strewn about, and I’d never seen a single child here. As usual, an adult was sitting in a chair too small for them, reading Dr. Seuss. “Griffin. Dr. Park is ready for you. Oh, and I moved things around so you could have a few more minutes like you asked.” The receptionist announced. Normally my appointments took only ten minutes, just a check in of sorts to make sure my meds were working properly. But, I’d called ahead to see if the doctor had a little extra time.
