“I suggest we throw her in the forest and leave the werebeast to devour her.” I hear one other elder say.
The Werebeast?
They werebeast resided in the evil forest. They were responsible for the brutal killing and betrayed wolf were always fed to them as punishment.
I can't see due to the blindfold around my eyes but I could tell where I was. The council room had its usual scent of ruthlessness and yet justice. I could feel hard chains around my neck as another push came throwing me off balance, making me fall knee first to the ground.
“I think it's better to kill her ourselves, that's the only way to make sure her kind is truly extinct. “ Another voice came dropping with more hate than the last.
I could feel a pair of rough hands settling at my jaw before gripping it tightly sending bolts of stings to the spot.
“This is what would have been our Luna ?” The voice bellows. “Where did you come from?”
The familiar voice yells, tightening their grip on my jaw and before I could register, another pair of hard hands slices through my cheeks sending a stinging pain from the impact. I groan a single drop of tear trailing down my cheek.
The man wasn't done and before I knew it, his hand grip my hair harshly. I could already feel another wave of impact coming but just before it hit me Alpha Rapheal's voice stops him midway causing the room to pause.
“Remove the blindfold, “ He said and immediately I feel the pack guard untying the cloth.
I open my eyes, the room light immediately going through my pupil struggling to adjust to the light.
Alpha Rapheal was standing a few inches away from me. His gaze pierced directly through me.
“You knew she was a Vartex wolf and you didn't say anything.” His gaze shifts to my father.
“No Alpha. Even I didn't know my blood carried a curse.” My father's words hit me hard in the gut, my heart squeezing tightly against my chest.
He didn't respond, his eyes met mine and for a brief second I could see something between pity and empathy flicker in his eyes but I couldn't quite place what exactly.
His eyes met mine as tear drops leaked from my eyelids. Why me? Why was this happening to me? I knew I had my wolf, I had heard her since I was little so was that beast that came out of me?
He eyes quickly left mine shifting back to the guards
“ Take her back to the dungeon. We'd discuss this when the truce is done.”
“But Alpha, she is a threat to all wolf kinds, leaving her alive even for the slightest minutes could harm us all. We don't know what she's capable of. “
I didn't need to see him, I could already feel it was the same elder that was speaking. They all wanted me dead and I couldn't blame them, even I didn't know what I was.
“Alpha Leo, will be here any minute from now and for the future of this pack we need to seal this deal.”
I had heard about Alpha Leo, never had I seen him with my eyes. There were countless rumors about him, words exchanged between pack members about his ruthless attack and his pack years of rivalry and constant war with us ?
“Take her away, I'd deal with it once the contract is sealed.”
The guards nodded, and with those final words, the chain binds on my neck were suddenly yanks with full force making me stumble to my feet. A pair of palms gripped at my shoulders, digging its nails into my skin and before shoving me forward.
“Move.” He yells. “Enough with this pretense.” He barked.
My body ached at every corner, my salty tears pouring down at the open wound causing another wave of pain to envelop me. It was all too much.
I paused, my ragged body grazing the ground as I turned. Our eyes met for a brief moment before he turned his face away.
Another wip hit at my skin, louder, sending waves of pain rushing in all at once. I scream but it doesn't stop, if anything only triggers them to continue with assault.
“Move!” The guard yells, shoving me forward again but only making me stumble back to the floor.
The cold wind hit my skin as I waited for another hit from the guard to order me forward but nothing.
For a long minute nothing came, the room was eerily silent.
No sound or movement as if the room had frozen.
I raise my head slightly, my eyes blurring together only to see a figure standing by the door.
“Am I early ?”
The voice says, sending the entire room into an ice-cold silence.
The voice was unfamiliar. I paused my head to look again but another jolt of pain struck me sending my body down to the ground with a loud thud.
“Alpha Leo, you're early.” Alpha Rapheal says with a hint of surprise in his tone.
“Am I now?” His voice is laced with pure amusement.
“We need to go through things in the pack meeting house. Not here.”
“I think I'm fine here. It's much cooler don't you think ?”
Alpha Rapheal face twists slightly but he turns. “ Everybody out.”
It didn't take up to a minute before the elders immediately stood to take their leave. Despite their age, no one had ever dared to disobey the Alpha's command.
The guard didn't hesitate, they pulled the chains dragging me violently, jolts of pain followed as I stumble to follow behind.
“Leave the girl. “ The man's voice echoes through the room causing the guards to pause in their tracks. Their gaze flickered from Alpha Rapheal and then back to me.
Alpha Rapheal nods in response and the guards immediately drop the chain. Unable to stand any longer my body stumbled to the ground at their release.
The two guards leave the room, leaving me alone with the Alphas.
With just two quick steps the Alpha suddenly appears in front of me.
“Is this how the White Fox treats all their wolves?” His deep voice rumbles through the room with an edge to it.
“My pack's business is none of your concern Leo.”
The man didn't speak, he crouched down, his arms finding my jaw.
I look away, not daring to meet his eyes.
“You know it's rude to look elsewhere when someone is speaking to you.” His hands slowly guided its way to my chin making me meet his face.
His golden brown eyes scan my rough bruised face as his expression suddenly twists into a flicker of something dark…rage?
“What did she do to deserve this?”
Alpha Rapheal didn't respond.
The man's eyes found mine again. “Tell me?” Tears cloud my eyes but I push them back up. I couldn't start now, the urge to pour out my pain overwhelmed me but I didn't speak. Any slightest word from me could make my end come even earlier but there was no point in fearing death.
I was going to be killed, and fed to the wild wolf and that was my fate
The Alpha raised his brow at me waiting for an answer but I kept silent.
“Speak to me when I'm addressing you! “ His voice rumbled through the room, making me shiver.
My mouth quivers as my voice cracks. “I-I’m a Var–”
Alpha Rapheal roar interrupts.
“Are we signing this truce or not? I don't have enough time to waste.”
The Alpha's gaze jolted back to Alpha Rapheal, a sinister smile suddenly playing on his lips.
“Change of plans Raph, I'll be taking the girl.”
The room tension changes, the growing tension reaching its highest peak.
Taking me?
