Ch 6: Andrea
As soon as I cross the threshold, I'm met with arms around my neck and a sob. Immediately, I felt the tears soaking through my outfit.
I rub her back, hoping she gets comfort through our embrace. I know she doesn't need words right now.
I slowly walk her down to the sofa and take a look around her place.
Angie is a neurotic neat freak and it's a little worrisome her apartment isn't as clean as it usually is, but then I remember how much of a mess I was when I thought Noah didn't want me. He did, he was just afraid. That’s why I know the mate bond wouldn't allow Jack to do anything to hurt Angie but maybe he's being stupid like Noah was.
Aqua: Our mate was just looking out for us.
Sera: Our mate was being stupid, we can look out for ourselves. Have you met us?
Aqua: I still think it's sweet that he cared so much.
Andrea: Alright guys, time out. Let's help fix our girl up.
I patted her hair as she cried her heart out. I knew I wasn’t going to get anything out of her while she was like this. Once she calmed just a tad, I picked up the bottle by her couch and took a swig straight from the bottle and passed it on to her to do the same. She took a couple gulps and wiped her mouth on her arm. She took a deep breath and told me what happened.
The more she spoke, the more I figured that this must be a misunderstanding but I needed her to know that I am on her side first and foremost. Once she was done I gave her another hug while trying to figure out how to handle the situation. What I knew about the mate bond and Jack, there had to be something more.
“Why did he do this to me? I thought there was something between us?” she sobbed, wiping her snot with the back of her hand.
I took hold of her regular box of tissues from the living room side table and handed her a bunch. She sniffled a thank you my way and I waved her off.
Taking an errant strand of hair from her face and tucked it behind her ear, giving her a soft smile.
“He’s an absolute ass if he thinks he can ever do better than you. I’m sure he will be back before the week is over, begging you to come back. That’s a promise.” I told her knowing I’ll be having a talk with Noah and his Beta. I mean are all these wolves stupid.
Aqua: Hey!!
Andrea: I didn’t mean you. I’m talking about the men of this pack.
Aqua: I mean that includes our mate. So again, heyy!!.
Andrea: I meant in the beginning.
Aqua: Still.
Not having the energy to continue this argument, I gave in.
Andrea: Fine. I digress.
Sera: As you should!
I shook my head at their antics and started really feeling the tug in my heart that has been happening ever since Noah and I got back together.
Sera: You miss him. Maybe I do too, but if you ever mention this to someone I-
“I know he’ll be back but I don’t know if I want him back. I mean if I’m this big of a mess and we hadn’t even done anything, imagine what would happen if we got back together and broke up,” Angie said as she blew her nose into the tissue.
“Are you willing to even consider taking him back?” I questioned with a raised brow.
“I think I should at least give him the chance to explain….Oh my god I sound like those females I joke about,” she starts rambling.
“Hold on!” I say as I grabbed ahold of her shoulders and shook her. “As far as I know him, I think you should give him the opportunity to explain and you can decide after that. As far as being like those females, I guarantee you are anything but that. You are my best friend and I would warn you way before you even got to that level.”
“Now breathe in,” I encourage her while taking a breath in with her, “and hold 2, 3, 4, and release.”
I watch her as she takes deep breaths and starts to calm. I listen for her heartbeat as it slows down to her normal. She looks at me expectantly once she’s done.
“I don’t know what I would do without you,” she sighs.
“Well here’s to hoping we never find out,” I told her.
“Can I ask you something?” she questions softly.
“Anything, you know that,” I reply.
“Is he the type to do that? You know, like cheat?” she barely whispers but my ears catch it easily.
“Angie, I would never let him anywhere near you if that was the case,” I reassured her.
“I mean yes he was a player, but there is a reason behind it. In a real relationship, he would worship not only the ground you walk on but also you. I mean ALL of you,” I wink to let her know exactly what I’m talking about.
She batted her hand at me while she chuckled.
I easily dodged it and smiled as she finally wasn’t actively crying.
“Okay,” she concedes.
“Okay?” I question acting oblivious even though I know where this is going. There is no way these two mates would be able to stay apart. They deserve this chance at happiness.
“Okay, I will listen to him but he better have a good explanation and an even better apology. I’m also going to make him sweat a little, you know,” she jokes as she elbows me in the left side of her ribs.
“As you should girl,” I encourage even though she needs none from me. Jack has his work cut out from him because this girl doesn’t joke.
For the time being, we moved to the bed and laid next to each other and drifted off to sleep.
