Doctor

{Clara’s POV} I woke up, the sound of beeping filling my senses, as light filtered in through the window. Pain felt as though it had opened up and swallowed me whole. My head throbbed, my skin felt like it was on fire, my ribs ached as I began to move around. “Mmm..” I winced, fluttering my eyes open. I looked around the room seeing Adrien, Dimitri, Daniella, and Viktor. They were all sleeping in chairs around my bed. I looked over each of them, noticing how Adrien’s head laid near me. I carefully brushed his through his hair with my fingers. He groaned, moving his head and trying to go back to sleep. “Adrien..” I whispered. His eyes shot open as he jumped up from his place. “Clara, you’re awake!” He said, turning and running to the door and flinging it open. “Doctor, she’s awake!” He shouted through the halls. I groggily tried to sit up, cringing at the pain in my ribs. “W-What happened?” I asked, looking around the room. “You mean you don’t remember?” Viktor asked, sitting up in his chair and looking over me. I shook my head. “The last thing I remember is lying in bed.. then waking up here. Did I lose a fight with a grizzly bear or something?” I asked, turning towards Adrien who was now walking back into the room with a woman in a lab coat. “Hello Clara, I’m Doctor Hill, I work at DryBridge Hospital, I’m also an on call doctor for many of the families in the area. I came in last night and reset your ankle, fixed and sewed up your ribs, and stitched up that nasty gash on your head.” She smiled. She had dark blue eyes, and dusty brown hair that was pulled up into a bun. She walked over to me, and pulled out a flashlight, testing my eyes with them before looking over me. “Can you tell me how you’re feeling?” She asked. “My head hurts.. and my ribs.. what happened to me? I don’t remember..” I said, looking up at her. “Memory loss is completely normal when accompanied by a concussion. You suffered a traumatic injury, so there really isn’t a guarantee that your memories of the event will come back.” She said, picking up a chart from the counter. “It seems as though you ran away last night, and fell down a hill, you broke your right ankle, two ribs on the left side, and you sustained a pretty severe gash to the back of your head.” She said, flipping through the pages. “Do you remember everything else from last night?” She asked, walking over to me. “What do you mean everything else?” I asked, pondering on her words. “Oh.. you mean.. the men that took me..” I replied, before looking down to my hands which were now gripping the blanket that laid over top of my legs, and I nodded. “Yes.. I remember..” “Are you comfortable discussing this in front of everyone?” She asked me, looking around the room. I shook my head. “If I have to talk about it, I’d prefer if we were alone..” I muttered, gripping the sheets harder. Everyone stood, and began making their way to the door, Viktor walked out first, followed by Dimitri. “We’ll give you your space.” Dimitri said. “We’ll be out in the hall if you need us.” Daniella added. Adrien walked over kissing the top of my head. “Just yell if you need me.” He smiled softly, before turning and following everyone else out. I nodded, smiling back as they left, once they were gone I sighed, leaning back against the bed. “Are you alright Miss Clara?” The doctor asked, walking over and taking a seat in the chair closest to me. I felt tears pricking in my eyes, as I turned to her, shaking my head. “N-No..” I whimpered. “Those men assaulted me.. they tried to.. to..” I cried, not able to say the word. “They would have taken everything from me.. and I was powerless to do anything. If it weren’t for Viktor.. if he hadn’t saved me..” I shook my head once again, gripping the blankets. “I just.. thinking about it makes me sick.” I whimpered, looking around. “I need a bin bag.. please!” I said, and she handed me one. Soon I was throwing up, gripping my stomach, as my ribs felt that they were breaking all over again. Once my stomach was empty I set down the bin. “Can I..” I sighed. “Could I just go back to bed?” I asked, looking over to her. She stood again, nodding. “Yes.. but it’s my professional opinion that you should see a therapist.. and of course get plenty of bed rest.” She said, grabbing the chart. “I’m going to send you to a good friend of mine, she’s the best therapist I know, and I think she could really help you.” I nodded. “Okay.. thank you..” I replied, before lying back and pulling the blanket up over my head. I wasn’t really tired, I just wanted to be left alone. “I’ll come back and check on you later today.” She said, and soon I heard the door open and close. I could hear voices in the hallway, I couldn’t tell what they were saying, but I knew they were talking about me. I didn’t want to hear them.. I didn’t want to listen. I knew they were asking her about how I’m doing, what’s wrong with me.. any issues I have, or have developed. I could tell them.. I could tell them exactly how I feel, but I wouldn’t dare, because I would have to admit that I saw my brother cleaning up bodies, for the man that saved my life.
