{Clara’s POV}
“I’ll come back and check on you later today.” She said, and soon I heard the door open and close. I could hear voices in the hallway, I couldn’t tell what they were saying, but I knew they were talking about me. I didn’t want to hear them.. I didn’t want to listen. I knew they were asking her about how I’m doing, what’s wrong with me.. any issues I have, or have developed. I could tell them.. I could tell them exactly how I feel, but I wouldn’t dare, because I would have to admit that I saw my brother cleaning up bodies, for the man that saved my life.
I laid back closing my eyes, just wanting to sleep until this nightmare was over, but at this point it felt never ending. The door opened suddenly, causing me to sit up and wince at the pain in my ribs. There, stepping into the room, and closing the door behind him was Viktor. He turned to face me, a heavy sigh leaving him, and a long silent pause filling the room as we stared at one another. “I..” he began.
I spoke at the same time. “I’m sorry..”
“You’re sorry?” He asked, walking to my side. “You have nothing to be sorry for. I’m sorry, for overreacting and being so insensitive.” He said, sitting down in the chair beside my bed.
“I’ve caused you so much trouble.. it’s my fault that all of this happened. Now I’ve hurt myself, and I can’t recall why, but I’ve caused you more trouble. I’m so sorry Viktor.” I replied, looking down at my hands, while gripping the sheets.
His large hand clasped over both of mine. “Clara, all of this is my fault. I hired those men.. I overreacted when you accidentally busted my nose, and I scared you.” He said. “You have nothing to be sorry for whatsoever, you’ve been through a lot, and most of it was my fault. I would completely understand if you hate me, and never wanted to speak to me again. I am also able to release you to go back home now that my doctor checked you out, though I would like to request that you go and see her again.” He began spouting things off so fast, that I began to find it hard to keep up as my head throbbed.
I gripped my head as my vision blurred, I closed my eyes and tried to take a deep breath, causing my ribs to ache. “Viktor.. I’m not angry with you.” I said, looking up at him. “I busted your nose? Are you alright? Does it hurt?” I asked, now noticing the bruises beginning to show around his eyes. “I can’t believe I did that.. I’m so sorry..” I reached up, touching his face gently.
His cheeks turned red as he pulled away, taking my hand in his. “Clara, I’m fine, really. I just wanted to apologize for everything, and to let you know that if you ever need something, to not hesitate to ask.” He said, setting my hand down on the bed. “The doctor told me that you’d have difficulty walking with crutches, so I’ve readied a wheelchair, and a cane for you. Whichever one you need or want is yours, and again, I’m truly sorry for everything.” He finished, standing and walking towards the door. “You brother will be here soon with the cane and chair, I’ve got some things to take care of so I’ll see you some other time.” He turned, stepping out of the room, leaving my mind reeling, I just couldn’t remember what happened last night.
Soon Adrien came into the room, pushing a wheelchair, while Dimitri followed behind him with a cane. The cane was a dark oak, with a marble handle, and gold vines wrapped around the length of it. “I think the cane will be better for once you’ve recovered some, but I think you should take the chair for now too, just in case. It’ll be difficult to walk with your broken ankle, and your broken ribs.” Dimitri said, handing me the cane. “Both of these are yours, and please let me know if my soon to be sister in law needs anything!” He grinned, turning and kissing Adrien on the cheek. “I’ve got some things to work out with Viktor, but I’ll see you later tonight, I’ll come over once you guys are done visiting Andrew!” He smiled, nodding to me before walking out of the door, closing it behind him.
“W-We’re going to visit dad, now? I’m a mess.. I’m covered in cuts, bruises, stitches, and bandages.. I-I had hoped my reunion with dad would be magical.. I’ve dreamt about it for years..” I sighed, looking down at my hands. “Seeing me this way.. it won’t make dad worse.. will it?” I asked, turning to Adrien.
He paused for a moment, thinking it over. “I honestly don’t know.. if you’re worried about upsetting him, and causing adverse effects to his health, I could postpone until you’re doing better, and you’ve healed some.” He said, walking over and sitting down on the bed beside me. “I can tell him that you haven’t been able to come yet, and it’ll be another few weeks.” He shrugged, his arm going around me and rubbing my back.
I sighed, looking at my hands which were gripping my sheets. “Be honest.. his health would more than likely decline if he knew I was in this state.. right?” I asked, looking up to him.
His hand stilled on my neck, as he let out a breath he seemed to be holding. “I think it’s definitely a possibility.. I don’t know how probable it is, but I do know that his health is in a fragile state now, so I’m sure knowing his daughter is hurt this way.. it could have all kinds of negative effects on him.”
I turned my attention fully to him. “Alright then.. contact dad.. tell him I’m not here yet, and help me make an appointment with Viktor’s doctor, and let’s go get some rest. I want to go home.”
He nodded, pulling the monitors off of me, and lifting me into his arms. “Let’s go home Clara.” He said softly, taking me away from the mansion. Soon we were pulling into the driveway of a beautiful house. It was much smaller than Viktor’s but had so much more charm.
“It’s beautiful!” I smiled, staring at it as we stepped out of the car. “Let dad know I’m not here yet Adrien.. and I’ll try to get better asap!”
