“It’s okay to let go.”

“No! No!” tears landed on that person’s cheek. It was a blurry image of a person that can be a girl or a boy.

There was a reason why Lucas hated seeing the ground from a high place. That is because he had seen someone so dear to him fall from such height. Fall not to the ground but on swarming undead below.

It flashes to him as he falls the same way that person did, seeing that Elijah safely landing, the creaking sound doesn’t scare him any longer, and the aching arm muscles seem to be insignificant.

The top’s hook got undone, the undead was torn to two parts, he is falling down quickly but at the same time a felt of relief is mixed in.

‘Is this also how you feel when you sacrifice yourself for me?’ He said in this thoughts.

Lucas closes his eyes as he let’s go of the cloth.

*RIPPPPPP

“Urk!” Lucas didn’t know what happened but it seems like he hit something and bounced a little before starting falling again.

*Thud

He reached the ground.

“Ughhhhh.” He groaned. All of his body is aching. They are numb with pain.

‘This is bad.’ He first thought as soon as he opened his eyes again. He found himself laying on top of the mountain of undead bodies.

“Dammit.” He weakly muttered. The fall must’ve broken some of his bones.

“Arghh!” He tried to get up but his body wouldn't listen, look around and see some of the undead that had fallen down from the upper floors, partially alive.

“Dammit! Dammit!” He cursed and cursed as slightly moved his hand away from a stuck undead who was trying to bite his finger.

“URGHHHH!”

Because of the numbers of dead falling here, it became his cushion on impact of falling the opposite of what he wanted.

Falling at such height and not dying immediately is worse, the worst is coming. . . undead are starting to gather. What can be worse than being eaten alive while paralyzed.

Lucas gathered his strength and looking like a caterpillar he tried to crawl down the mountain of undead. He successfully went down. Rolling down.

“ARGH!” He holds up his cries of pain as he sweats to just make a small movement.

The growls are coming from all directions.

Haaa… He is panicking and feeling helpless again. A memory of several people’s backs facing him as he hid under the table, while the people were swinging their weapons and opening fire continuously. Strong and fast undeads continue to pour in the small room.

“Haaa.” As if he is in the same situation, Lucas breathes slower.

*Huff Huff

He is hearing a distant call but he can no longer tell the reality and his visions. Now that he is avoiding to sleep long, his dreams are overlapping with his present.

Heavy breathing and spinning vision, he failed to hear the voices around him as he pushed himself from the floor. His eyes play the scene in skips and loops. He is blinking really slowly, unable to grasp the severity of his situation.

The cemented walls and metal bars are all stained with dirt and traces of c*****e.

“...ey! Hey!! We need to go!!” A far shouting voice is barely reaching him.

‘Elijah?’

He recognized the haggard and thin face in front of him and was shaking his body. His arms were wrapped in Elijah’s shoulders and he was lifted up.

Lethargic and weak, he can barely help Elijah to lift himself. He can only let himself be a baggage to drag.

*Thud

Both him and Elijah slump to the floor after just three steps.

“AH!! Please man!! We need to go!” Elijah slapped the floor and looked at Lucas desperately.

*Growl

“AHHHHHH!! LET GO!!” Elijah panicked as he kicked an undead by his feet to free himself.

Lucas looked up behind Elijah and coming behind an open barred room is a top naked undead with black and red blood still dripping from its mouth.

It looked like it was smiling as it walked towards them.

He approached the busy Elijah from the side before it crashed down and jumped down to Elijah.

“AHHHH!!” Elijah barely manages to stop a direct bite off from the strong newly turned undead by pushing his forearm to it’s neck away from his face.

Wrestling with it, he forgot the newly undead by his feet. He was grabbed again by his heels. Now defending himself against the strong undead, he looked at Lucas miserably and in despair.

“PLEASE HELP ME!!” Elijah pushed down to the ground fending off the newly turned undead turned to Lucas to seek help but just as Lucas trembling looked at Elijah and forces himself to reach to him Elijah was dragged out of his view.

Elijah’s continuous seek for help and the groaning mixed sounds sounded in the large hallway of the prison walls.

“AHHHHHH! I AM SORRY I AM SORRY!!! PLEASE SOMEBODY HELP ME!!!”

Lucas slumped to the ground and can only shed a tear, even turning his head to Elijah’s direction is impossible to him right now.

“Aurgh!”

In front him is another newly turned undead approach so low that it’s head is almost touching grounds. It looks like a spider crawling taking it’s time on approaching. It looked vicious as it’s saliva dripped to the floor and half of its face may have suffered from heavy beating, seeing it’s bleeding profusely and bent concave.

“Arghh” Lucas can only groan as the undead’s face approaches his’.

The putrid breath of the undead aired to him.

*Growl

‘I am sorry Andrea, looks like, brother can no longer go back.’

*Bite

*SWOOSH BAM BAM BAM

At the loud sounds and no pain Lucas opens his eyes and sees, the naked undead’s head beaten to the point it’s brains were smashed to the ground.

“LUCAS, Are you okay?!” A pair of black eyes came to check on him.

“A,Aaron? E,e..jah” He called in a broken tone.

Aaron turned up and watched something before answering him. “He is fine, though he is crying uglily at Andrea’s waist.”

‘I see.’ He answered in his mind before passing out.

For the first time after waking up in this game, he felt fine after opening his eyes.

“You’re up.” Aaron greeted him.

“Yeah…”

“How are you feeling?”

“The headache is gone.”

Aaron took a bread and water in the side and give to him

“That is not something shocking since you barely sleep and eat. Eat as much as you can because you're gonna need it.”

*Ting

“How long was I sleep?!”

“You have been asleep for more than a day…”

[... Forty minutes left]

“Eat your bread fast, we are going for a hunt. We can’t waste any more time.”

“It’s fine…” Lucas leisurely unwrapped the bread and bite into it.

“How?! How could you say that?! Elijah and Athena is raking more scores to secure a spot… don’t tell me you’ve given up?! I promise to help you hunt, so don’t give up now.”

“It’s not like that…” Lucas hesitated and exhaled before eating the whole bread fast and drinking all his water.

“Let’s go.” He said, wiping the water in his mouth.

Just like Aaron had promised, he helped him to hunt, but it was not fast enough, they killed 5 undeads in 18 minutes. While targeting undeads and managing the risk of taking the attention of a huge crowd of undead, they waste time, tailing and assassinating the undeads without much noise.

“How many have you killed again?” Aaron asked.

“The last one was my 11th.” Lucas answered. Though he was not sure how the pointing system works, and or kill count happens, he just counted the kills done by his hands.

“Ahh. s**t! What should we do? I am sure you have some sort of plan if you can stay calm like this.”

A hologram has been lighted, instead of the light coming from down the device was put on the ceiling and lighted down a screen.

Instead of letters being displayed, their pictures are vertically placed and beside them are their points.

Number 1 or the top scorer with 206 points is none other Liam.

Followed by Aaron with 200 points.

Athena is on 5th place with 188 points

12th place is Elijah with 121 points

On the bottom ranking is Lucas with 21 points in 17th place.

“I am only second? Ah damn! What are we going to do, you are in 17th place?...Why are you like that? Are you not worried?” Aaron was puzzled at the calm demeanor of Lucas.

Lucas then looked over Aaron’s back.

“It’s starting.” He said.
