CHAPTER FOURTEEN

510 Words
The Truth Hurts Adrian spent the next few days investigating his past. Every document led back to the same truth. Elena was his wife. Leo and Lily were his children. And his family had known all along. But there was still one question he couldn't answer. Why had they hidden them? Then Victoria made her move. She released old photographs of Adrian and Elena to the media, claiming Elena had taken advantage of Adrian after his first accident. Within hours, the story spread everywhere. BILLIONAIRE HEIR TRAPPED BY A MYSTERY WOMAN? Elena became the target of public criticism. People called her a gold digger. Some even accused her of having children with Adrian for money. Elena tried to ignore it. But then she received a legal notice ordering her to stay away from Adrian. She couldn't believe it. The same man who had once promised to protect her was now being used against her. That evening, Adrian found Elena outside her apartment. She looked exhausted. He noticed the tears she was trying to hide. "Why didn't you tell me?" She looked at him. "Would you have believed me?" He had no answer. Elena looked away. "I spent five years raising your children alone. I never asked your family for money. I never tried to find another husband." Her voice trembled. "I only wanted you to remember us." Adrian felt a deep pain in his chest. "I believe you." Elena looked at him in surprise. "But I still don't remember." "I know." She wiped her tears. "Then don't force yourself." Adrian stepped closer. "I don't want to lose you again." Elena looked at him. "You already did." Those words broke something inside him. That night, Adrian returned to his office and found an old box that had been stored away after his second accident. Inside were letters. All written by Elena. He opened the first one. It described the day they met. The second described their wedding. The third was written after Leo and Lily were born. Adrian read every letter. By the final page, his hands were shaking. One sentence stood out: "If you ever forget me, I'll still remember you for both of us." A sharp pain struck his head. He saw rain. A small apartment. Elena laughing. A newborn baby. His arms around her. Then— A voice. "I love you, Elena." Adrian dropped the letter. His breathing became heavy. Another memory flashed. A wedding ring. Their first kiss. Their children. He fell to his knees. "Elena..." For the first time, he remembered her name with his heart. Meanwhile, Victoria stood outside Richard's office. She could see the fear in his expression. "He is remembering," she whispered. Richard nodded. "We need to stop him." Victoria looked toward the hallway. "What if we can't?" Richard's face hardened. "Then we'll lose everything." Neither of them noticed Adrian standing behind the door. He had heard them. And this time, he wasn't confused. He was angry. He walked away silently. There was only one thing left to do. Bring his family home.
