'Will I reject her?' Alpha Echo asked in his mind, oblivious that I could hear everyone's thoughts. I have a secret. I can hear my alpha's thoughts and everyone around me. I know when Alpha Echo will reject me because he thinks I am weak. Was this the day I'd been dreading to happen? The alpha's rejection?I shifted my weight from foot to foot.'It will be good for the pack.'"A-Alpha?" I asked, stammering. As if I did not want to know what he was about to say, I asked, "M-May I know why you called me?"He looked at me hard and sighed.'Too bad. Her looks are not that bad for a mate.'I felt the temperature of my cheeks rise. A compliment from the alpha.'No. This is not good. I must reject her. For good.'The colors drained from my face. No!"I, Alpha Echo of the Valor Pack, reject Avery as my mate."—---------Avery, the omega of Valor Pack would not settle for a plain rejection. While the party was going on, her desperation got ahead of her, and went to Alpha Echo's room. Drunk and thinking she was someone else, something happened between them. When Echo awakened the following morning, Avery was nowhere to be seen. Fast forward ...three  years ago, Alpha Echo and Avery met while she holds the  two boys in both hands, resembling so much of his face.

01: Alpha Echo
Y: My head has been aching for quite some time now. Voices were everywhere. Voices in my head. I just wanted to take a breath and break away from this chaotic place. I was in the hallway, watching the previous alpha pulling his hair in frustration, oblivious that the other slaves were watching him while I was in the corner, making myself as small as possible so that he would not notice I could hear his thoughts. 'Where the heck is Echo? He should be overseeing the event by now!' the previous alpha of the Valor Pack muttered as hid in a vase that was as big as me. His voice was marred with annoyance as if he wanted to strangle his own son by now for being an irresponsible one. Alpha Echo of Valor Pack. It had only been a year since he took the alpha position, but he was already involved in different scandals including women and fights. He was considered the bad boy among all the young alphas in the country which was something I also believed. The worst rumors surrounding him were that he was involved in illegal drugs. Something which I knew was not true. I vowed they were not true. I could put my life on that. ‘The visitors will be coming here any moment from now. And where is he? That young boy! I will punish him if this event fails.’ I flinched at the hostility of the ex-alpha’s voice. The only source of his stress right now was his son and no one else. Just his son. The event that Leo, Alpha Echo's father was referring to by now was the meeting of all the alpha's which will happen tonight. They would likely bring their unmated daughters and Luna by thinking their daughters would find their mates here. My other unmated pack mates were also dolling themselves. In the hope that one of the alphas would be their mate. Good for them. 'That good for nothing son. Was it right I stepped down from my position and gave it to him? He was unmated and kept on fooling around. Damn it.’ Alpha Leo stopped and scanned the surroundings until his eyes darted to me. I stilled and forgot how to breathe. I wanted the ground to swallow me now. "You. Come here this instant!” I jumped at how his voice sounded like thunder. With trembling hands, I pointed my fingers to myself. "A-Alpha?" I asked, my voice almost a whisper. 'Where are the other omegas? Why does it have to be this one? I rarely heard her talk. Was this the hybrid of the pack?' Yeah. Where were the other slaves? They were here earlier, arranging everything that I did not notice they had already left. "Y-Yes, I am, A-Alpha Leo.” Alpha Leo's brows furrowed. "Did I say something?" I bit the inside of my cheeks when I was reminded that he did not know this innate ability I had since I was young— hearing their thoughts. I could hear everyone's thoughts even if I did not want to. Until now, I had a hard time filtering their thoughts. I shifted my weight from foot to foot while playing with my hands. Not having the courage to meet his eyes, I muttered softly, "N-no, Alpha Leo. M-my apologies. I was thinking of other things." 'Was this the daughter of my gamma who was cheated by his human wife? Poor Amador. I did tell him humans could not be trusted, but he still insisted on marking Rhodora.' Rhodora. That was my human mother whom I did not have any idea where she was right now. She cheated on her mate and said Father had fooled her. It was already late when she found out that Father was a werewolf. Mother believed werewolves were the work of the devils. Now, she was back in the human world, with her new man and had already forgotten about me. Did I have a grudge against her? I did not. Since I was young, all I heard was her calling my father and me demons. ‘I hoped that wench had already died. She was the reason why my gamma left too soon.’ It was Mother running away from us which made Father lose the will to live even if I was still here beside him. ‘What was this child’s name again?’ Locking me with his gaze, Alpha Leo stared down at me with pity. Father and the alpha had an amazing friendship. Their closeness could pass as friends. However, when Father died, it was a custom in our packs that all orphans would become an omega, the lowest rank in our pack. Or you can say we were slaves of this pack. Well, I did not want anyone's pity. My mate definitely will not stare at me like that. He would accept me for who I was and I hoped he was the one who would visit this pack tonight. "Who are you again?" "A-Avery Clark, Alpha Leo. I was the daughter of the union between Amador Clark and Rhodora Clark." "Ah. The hybrid. How old are you?" he inquired. ‘This child looked so much like you, Amador. How could I forget you if she bears your face?’ Alpha Leo was not making this any easier for me at all. Not only him but all my pack mates as well. If I did not make them remember the sad life of the great Amador, then I made them also remember that humans should not be trusted. "I-I am nineteen, Alpha Leo," I mumbled. "Unmated?" he inquired. ‘If this child found her mate, she could return back to her status as a free she-wolf.’ This was what I liked about him. Alpha Leo was tough on the outside, but he was warm on the inside. Unlike his good good-for-nothing whose mind was only about the women he bedded. Hearing his dirty thoughts was sickening. "Y-yes, Alpha Leo." I wanted to know why he was asking all those questions, but his mind was suddenly silent. 'Why did this child concern me? Amador died and it was not my fault. He brought it upon himself.' My heart constricted. Poor Father. He was always to blame for what happened to him. It was not my mother. But it was always him. "Look for my son, Alpha Echo. Tell him I want him to take charge of everything here. I don't want to have any room for mistakes this evening. You hear that?" I bit my lower lip. "Y-yes, Alpha Leo. C-Can I go now?" "Why do you always stammer? It's not like I am trying to hurt you." My heart skipped a bit. It was true. Alpha Leo did not hurt any omegas unless we committed some sins that had a corresponding punishment. 'Why do I concern myself with her? I should think of Echo first. I hope he will like the woman I will ask him to marry.' An arranged marriage? It was still early for that. Alpha Echo had yet to find his mate. Why did Alpha Leo in such haste? 'Tonight is the full moon. There is a high chance he will find his mate now. If he does, I will not push through this marriage. The Council was targeting him because of his promiscuous behaviors. If he will be bound to a she-wolf, then they will keep their mouth shut.' An arranged marriage was something Alpha Echo would never be happy about. There were no real conversations between us. But one thing was for certain—he was not someone who liked to be imprisoned with a single woman. Alpha Leo suddenly snapped his fingers right in front of me."Are you listening to me?" I blinked a couple of times. "Y-yes, Alpha Leo. You want me to look for Alpha Echo." His eyes narrowed, but heaved a sigh in the end. 'This is a waste of time. I will deal with this woman later.' "Go," he ordered. Without being told twice, I dusted the dust on my skirt and hurried away without having any idea where I would look for Alpha Echo. -------------- Down the hallway of the pack house, I looked for Alpha Echo’s presence. No matter where I looked, everyone was busy, and seeing me wandering in the hall raised their eyebrows. 'What a b***h. Did she think she could relax? Who did she think she is?' Some of the girls were in a group, looking for dresses that would make them stand out from the crowd. There was only a small program after the meeting in the conference hall and a little banquet. After that, everyone was free to go wherever they wanted. I, on the other hand, would lock myself in my room. Hearing a lot of voices in my head would only make my nose bleed. Being in a crowd would only torture me. I froze when I heard giggles in one of the guest rooms. My heart hammered against my chest at the delicious smell of spruce coming from the house. This was the first time someone’s scent was appealing. Which made me ask myself. What is the meaning of this?
