Alpha Leon POV

I grow at Jim, my wolf angry at the disrespect.

Leon:

How dare you yell at your Alpha!

Who does he think he is? My Luna places a hand on my shoulders calming me as I glare at the man.

Luna Casie in a calm voice speaks.

Casie: Jim it is understandable that you are upset and we won’t take this lightly. The one responsible will be punished accordingly. Do we have any information yet?

Jim:

Millie has found her mate and he did this to her.

I watch closely the Luna’s eyes. I have long had my suspicions about their son. I once saw him punch Millie and confronted him. Since then he has avoided me. Her eyes flicker an emotion I recognize well and know in my heart he did this. Collins, future Alpha and mate to my daughter tried to kill her. My blood boils as she quickly hides he emotions.

Luna Casie:

How could she Jim? Female wolves don’t realize their mates until age 18 unless they are an alpha wolf and we all know Millie ... well is not. Come now how did you come to this conclusion?

Jim:

Millie informed me before she lost consciousness.

Luna Casie:

Jim you know Millie is mute. Why are you making things up?

Elizabeth:

Jim stop.

She looks at him begging for his to stop revealing too much and he sighs.

Jim:

Will you do something this time?

Alpha Leon:

Jim you are a wonderful warrior and an important part of the pack. I give you my word we will find the one who hurt your daughter and justice will be served.

Leon offers his hand to Jim. Jim takes his hand and looks directly into the Luna’s eyes. Do I have your word Alpha? Before she can speak the Alpha makes a promise.

Millie opens her eyes and laughs. All three people in the room look at her in disbelief having not ever heard a sound from her.

Luna Casie:

Millie?

Millie closes her eyes and drifts off again.

Luna Casie: The Alpha mate ceremony is tomorrow night. It is unfortunate that Millie won’t be able to attend.

Jim:

Oh she will be there don’t worry. We would not miss it.

Luna Casie face pales.

Luna Casie:

Well then we will take our leave. Oh and we learned that a witch has been selling silver tipped weapons at the local market. We are starting the investigation there. Please enjoy the gift.

She sets the basket on the bed side table.

Luna Casie: You know silver poisoning can cause mental issues temporarily. Perhaps Millie only thinks she knows her mate and even if she does doesn’t mean he would do this. What type of mate would hurt another wolf?

Jim:

What type indeed.

Luna Casie’s POV

If I can just take their mind away from the thought of her mate... her mate. There is no way my son is her mate. She is the weakest part of this pack. My mind deep in thought I don’t notice as my mate drives past the pack house and to our secret get away.

Leon parks the car and silently holds my hand as we walk inside and then he says the words I had hoped never to hear.

Leon:

You lied to me mate.

My heart breaks as I look in his eyes.

Casie: Leon

Leon:

No, you will tell me the truth.

Leon says using his alpha command for the first time on his own mate.

My heart break even more as I tell him all that our son told me. The pain and anger in his eyes not only at our son but at me was too much. Tears roll down my face. When I finished speaking he walked out of the door, shifted into his large black wolf running into the woods. I sat on the couch and cried till no more tears would come.

Back at the hospital Jim looked at Elizabeth.

Jim:

She laughed. I heard her and Elizabeth the Alpha’s command didn’t even effect me. I don’t understand. I am not a pure alpha or a royal.

Elizabeth:

I think the curse is getting weak and Millie blocked you.

Jim:

She protected me. It is I who should protect her and look what a great job I have done.

Sarcasm and shame drips from his voice as he looks at Millie in the bed. Elizabeth takes his hand and they sit in silence. Jim you are a good father and she loves you. Tomorrow night she will finally be free.
