Prologue
March 13, 2034.
The night turned eerie as the full moon hid itself amongst the clouds. There was nothing but distant shrill cries, unsettling growls, and screeches from those who have fallen and became one of them.
Fast-moving footsteps from a man trying to survive echoed in a desolated building. His disorganized panting implied that he's being chased. He turned right and run towards the dark corner of the building's hallway, then he hushed underneath the staircase.
He held his mouth, trying not to breathe loudly while the horde of that thing passed straight, not noticing him. He watched them as their bloody bodies marched forward, and even their dangling organs were swinging in the process. Some of them were crawling as half of their body parts were either eaten or destroyed.
Those things are former human infected by the infamous zombie disease.
The way they look, they seem to have been wandering around for a long time already. Ironically, the man hiding in the dark only had a slight disheveled hair and a dirt on his body that suggested he was on the run for only a very short time.
The darkness underneath the staircase made it hard to see the man's current emotions. Was he terrified? Was he disgusted? Was he crying? Or was he smiling?
A minute which felt like an hour passed, and finally, the nonhuman sounds slowly got weaker. It was indeed a good place to hide. He camouflaged skillfully on the blackness of his surroundings and the only two things that were not concealed were his silver earrings and a pair of electric blue eyes staring at him from behind.
He made a sigh of relief when the horde of zombies did not notice him. "Good thing, there's no evolved one in there..." The man, whose expressions are unknown, said to himself.
He decided to move out from where he was hiding not until he heard a weak growl from behind him. He slowly turned his head and locked his sight on the electric blue eyes that were glaring at him. The tiny flickering light slowly uncovered the appearance of the owner of those eyes as it moved closer to him.
A mouth drenched in blood and a body filled with bulged blue veins caused him to halt his movements. He recognized her. "W-what's happening?" He paused and looked at her. He knew who she was but there was no time for a happy reunion. In fact, he needed to escape from her. He tried getting away but before he could do anything, it already grabbed him in his arms and delved in for a feast.
Seeing his life flashing before his eyes, he shouted in agony.
He struggled getting back to position while catching his breath, only to find out that he was not in a place where he thought he was. The familiar scent, the familiar wall, the neatly furnished living room, the light and cozy atmosphere, why was he here? These were the thoughts he was trying to process.
"Lui?" A calming voice welcomed him.
