Then there were three

Ethan and Mia held the little girl they had just been charged with. The three women watched them, tears running down their faces but they tried to give the couple a small smiles. “Thank you, please take good care of my daughter. I don’t give her to you lightly. This is a decision that obviously pains me to make. I want her to have every opportunity but she cannot remain with me in my realm.” Mia had tears in her eyes as well, she did not want to imagine the pain this woman must be going through. She obviously loved her child but for whatever reason was unable to give her the home the baby needed. “Of course we will take the best care of her. I have to ask though, if she is the alphas daughter shouldn’t she be with her father?” Luna stepped in front of her sister, “I am not sure that would be wise as of yet. We want her close to her father so she might know him but with the goddess blood that she carries we are unsure how that might affect her. It could mean everything or nothing at all. I feel this is the safest solution for her and the pack that we hope she will be apart of.” Asteria could not hold back her sobs, “Please know we are watching over her and you. If you need help or something happens all you have to do is speak to the stars. They will listen and tell me, you are not without aid.” Selena came to the baby and gave her a kiss, “Her name is Iris, thank you again.” Just as soon as they came the three were gone. Mia and Ethan stood alone in front of their house but now they had a small baby to take care of. “Hello Iris,” Mia cooed fondly at the baby. “I promise to take care of you, love you, and protect you with my entire being.’ Then Ethan put his arms around his mate, “As do I.” Mia and Ethan turned to walk back into their cottage when they spotted Caleb and Angie walking towards them. Mia had almost forgotten that Mia was also pregnant, she was probably going to have her baby very soon by the looks of her. Ethan protectively stood in front of Mia and their new bundle, “Alpha, Luna” Ethan gave a small nod towards them out of respect but his protective stance did not go unnoticed by the two. “Ethan what was that light? Ive seen it before but it came and went so quickly. Are you and Mia alright? Why are you standing like that?” Mia came and stood beside her mate and showed the Alpha and Luna the baby. “A Goddess has gifted us with raising and taking care of her daughter. She said that the girl should be raised in the pack of her father.” Angies eyebrows shot up and she looked at Caleb, this was an interesting turn of events and right before the birth of their own child. To Caleb’s credit he honestly looked surprised by this news, “I don’t understand, there was a she wolf that came into this land and we did have.. a moment.” Caleb looked at Angie apologizing with his eyes, Angie wasn’t going to let this go but she also wanted answers so they would talk about this later. “It was one time, actually the night before Angie came into the village.” “Maybe a detail you could have shared with me sooner?” Angie said annoyed obviously. “I’m sorry but honestly when I met you and I knew you to be my mate the memory of her was forgotten and I truly haven’t thought of that night since.” “Well a baby was born so it must have happened. I don’t think a GODDESS would make something like this up Caleb.” Angie was getting angry, trying to breathe slowly and deeply because she also did not want the stress to put her into premature labor. Although she figured this little wolf could be born this minuet and big enough to fight everyone. She was huge and the little baby was taking up every ounce of space she had grown. “Why did the goddess not just bring the child to me? If I am her father shouldn’t I raise her?” “She said that because of the blood of an alpha wolf and the blood of a goddess is flowing in her she was unsure of the out come. They said it would be safer to raise her in the pack and see how she develops before a decision is made about her future in the hierarchy of the pack.” “To me this makes sense, Caleb you can have a relationship with the child and she can know her sibling, but we can also keep a distance just in case something goes wrong. If the goddess doesn’t even know what will happen let’s take her decision as a good one.” Angie was trying to think logically but she was also upset at this news, her child would not be the first born of Caleb’s what would that mean? Should it mean anything? Why did she care at all, this is a baby, a half sibling to her own. Taking a deep breath Angie walked over to Mia. The women were friends and she could not think of a better mother than Mia would be to this child. “Her name is Iris.” Mia was smiling at Angie, the two had a bond and Mia could not help but be a little excited at the fact they would be now raising their children together. Angie also had this thought while looking at her friend holding the babe. “Hello Iris, welcome to our pack. Look at her eyes, one crystal blue and one bright green. No need to question her genealogy. This is a dead giveaway Caleb.” Caleb came over and looked at the babe, “Well, welcome to my pack daughter. Let’s let the three of you get settled and get to know each other. Then we will introduce the newest member of the pack to everyone.” Ethan joined the three of them, smiling from ear to ear, he had wanted a child but he and Mia were not ever lucky enough to become parents. This was truly a miracle and he could not be happier. “We will have to add on to the cottage, we only have one room and I am okay with sharing a room with a baby but a teenage.. I think I’ll need some place to hide.” Caleb smiled broadly, “I think I need somewhere to hide now.” Angie and Mia both glared at Caleb, “You should have thought of that before you magically forgot that you had s*x with a stranger the night before you met Angie.” Mia was nothing but faithful to her friend and wanted Caleb to know that no one had forgotten that little detail. Ethan looked worried at Caleb, “We could start building a separate cabin now if you think you’re not safe at home?” Caleb could not help but laugh, “No I will take my beating like a grown up. Please let us know if you two need anything we will come back and check in on the three of you tomorrow.” “Mia before we go, do you think I could hold her?” Angie was a little timid about asking but she wanted to snuggle a baby very badly, probably her hormones but she could not help it. “Of course! Let’s go inside, you, Caleb, and Ethan can all hold her while I finish dinner.” Selena, Asteria, and Luna watched the exchange from Luna’s balcony, Luna hugged her sister close to her. “Iris is in good hands, we will watch from here and be ready if she needs us, but I think we gave her the best possible chance.” All three were holding on to each other for support, crying, but happy that the little babe would be well taken care of.
