Chapter 1: What Would Hektor Do?
A car door slammed shut in the parking lot adjacent to my apartment building. A mild breeze wafted through the screen of the open window, and the sound carried crisply in to where I sat with my laptop open, staring at the screen. Living in the San Diego area, I expected it to be balmy in early November, but even by local standards it had been an unseasonably warm day.
