18. I will challenge you

Lily Pov:

I avoided Lucas all morning, I didn’t want to see him after what he told me. He was so rude about my sisters, they were my family the only family I had and he was being so offensive. I knew at the end of the day they would be there for me, I wasn’t expecting them to come out running and hugging me, we weren’t that close and with us losing Fury no one would bother about  the other Packs and their defences. Who did Lucas think he was? God I hated that man.

Although I couldn’t think of anything else last night,  his words kept playing in my head. “Don’t fight it” he said. I was fighting my whole life yet he was talking about my feelings. I don’t know how to control them, whenever I was around him my stomach would flutter and my palms would get sweaty.

We were training and after 15km run my chest was starting to hurt but I didn’t want to be seen as the weak one. The rest of the morning we spent training separating the Daughters and wolves.

“Hey Lily come here” Poppy called me over. “How are the other packs?” she asked.

“50/50 Black Moon Pack is actually impressive; they are training everyday and won’t be sending any warriors here they are a stronghold in the East” she seemed impressed and dismissed me.

When we returned to the Estate we noticed that there was a banquet which was being set up. Multiple tables with freshly picked flowers.

“Ummm is there something going on tonight that we should know about Fury?” Claudia asked. She was another human Daughter who Mother picked up on the streets.

“He’s taking me tonight sisters, they are holding this party to commemorate that” Fury seemed destroyed by her own words. It was true my sister would be leaving me.

“No” I said quietly.

“Go home Fury” Georgia chipped in

“You know I can’t , I was defeated in a challenge…. You were all there to see it and now he has to take me, I am to be his Luna if I go home, I will break our law and I will be an outcast” she was right no defeated Daughter has ever come back with open arms, not unless she gave up her own Daughter to the Order.

“Wait…. I thought only she-wolves can be Lunas. He is expecting you to help him lead a pack of wolves?” Sienna had a point even Fury wouldn’t know how to lead them.

“When I went home two nights ago. I spoke to Mother and she told me the truth….  A wolf got her pregnant, apparently I am half wolf and during the Luna Ceremony my wolf is going to come out for everyone to see” she felt us stunned. The person who I grew up with was a wolf, the same creature which killed me family. She was one of them!

“Fury wait…. We wont judge you, we love you for who you are, even when you’re shedding fur”. Poppy stopped her. “We will be there for you tonight … but I promise you the first chance I get I will beat him to a pulp for taking my sister away from me” Poppy hugged Fury and we all followed them into the Estate.

I was standing I front of the mirror in a long black dress and matching heels. I would only dress up like this whenever it was Mother’s anniversary of her first mission or whenever I had to seduce someone. But since Kilian’s mother, Stacey, wanted everyone to celebrate in high fashion we all had to play dress up .

Reya was sitting beside me wagging her tail. She was an odd dog just like me I didn’t fit in with my sisters but I tired my best. I heard a soft knock on the door and I immediately went to open it.

“Hey Lily are you ready?” Claudia stood in the doorway. She wore a similar dress to mine but her had her back covered. In a way I felt sad to see her there but I didn’t know why. I picked up the keys to my room and left with her.

In the main hall of the Estate everything was beautifully decorated I had to give it to Stacey she did a fantastic job. I looked around the room to find Fury but she hasn’t arrived yet.

“Want to dance?” I hard his voice behind me, what was he doing? He was asking me for a dance in front of my sisters.

“Umm no sorry Lucas” I answered whilst I looked at Poppy who nodded at my response.

“Oh, I guess you don’t know our customs. Visitors should be wined at dined and since dinner hasn’t been served yet I have to keep you ladies entertained. I would only look bad in front of all the other Alphas” he held out his hand to me and looked at Poppy instead.

“Alright” I said through my teeth.

As Lucas led me to the danced floor by my hand I felt his thumb caressing the outside of my hand, his little actions always made me stomach flutter. He turned me around and I placed my hand in his and the other one on his shoulder just like he taught me. His right hand rested on my bare back and he started caressing me again.

“You’ve improved” he said quietly.

“Thank you” I didn’t want to entertain him after what he said to me.

“Sorry about before. I never meant to upset you”  it was as though he was reading my mind. “Seriously Lily I’m sorry” he was being genuine.

I felt my sisters eyes on me and I couldn’t get any closer to him. I realised why I was so sad when I opened my bedroom door to find Claudia, I wanted to find Lucas, alone.

“I can’t keep myself away from you Lily” what was he doing to me? When I was in his arms I felt safe and I never understood it, I felt safe in the arms of a stranger, a man, a wolf.

I excused myself and went back to standing with my sisters, surely he must have understood why I couldn’t stay with him. As the room got quiet I noticed Fury walking down the stairs to meet Kilian who was waiting for her.

I felt like my whole world was tipped upside down, everything around me was falling down. Maybe I was even falling, but was I falling for Lucas ? I heard the words that came out of Fury’s mouth, she swore to protect the wolves, she was going to be their Luna, it was like poison to my ears. She was not only their Queen she was also going to turn tonight. She needed to go for a run with them.

She went to get changed and I saw Lucas approaching me again. I was about to walk away when I bumped into Ophelia. She used to be a Daughter and a blood sister to out Mother.

“Sorry Ophelia I didn’t see you there”.

“This must be hard for you my darling” she said whilst stroking my head.

“Ophelia hope you’re having a nice night”

“Hmmmmm” she replied. Whatever happened she didn’t like Lucas or Kilian.

“Are you going for the run with us tonight Luna Ophelia?” Lucas asked more politely

“No I’m not a wolf Lucas, I never got turned. Now if you excuse me” she moved past us.

I felt more confused then before, what did she mean that this was hard for me. Did she know about my past, did Mother tell her? And what did she mean about turning? She wasn’t a wolf.

“Lily you will be surrounded my wolves tonight. We all have to go for a run with our Luna and I will have to go with them listen if anything happens I will” he was interrupted when we saw a black wolf walking down the stairs. “f**k” he said as he saw it.

It was nearly as big as Kilian, its paws clapped on the ground as it walked and they were the polar opposites. Kilian was a grand white wolf and the black wolf next to him must have been Fury. But why was a female wolf so huge. Her eyes calmed me down, they were still piercing blue like Fury’s.

I returned back to my room and shut the door behind me. I wanted to put everything behind me, my feelings and emotions were messing with my head and I had to put them aside. I needed to focus on the mission, I had to train wolves and that was it. Yes I lost my sister and I didn’t feel comfortable around Marble but it was all going to be over soon.

I heard a soft tap on my window but I chose to ignore it, my mind playing tricks on me was the last thing I needed. But I heard it again and again and again. I approached the window and I saw Lucas in fresh new clothes standing below. I opened the window and gestured for him to come up.

“Since you’re here you is running hell?” I asked as he jumped from the balcony into my room.

His dark brown hair fell on his face as he looked at me . It was clear he just came back from his pack run. He straightened himself up and I saw his well toned arms.  He didn’t stop himself he kept on coming up to me and I saw how determined her saw. He grabbed my face with his hands and crashed his lips against mine. He was hungry for my touch, his approach sacred me and left me shell shocked.

I put my arms on his toros and pushed him slightly.

“Lucas what are you doing?” he pushed my arms down and grabbed my hips pulling me in again. Whenever he touched my body it burned with intensity, I knew I would have bruises the next day. His hands moved down my body and he grabbed my thighs lifting me up on his hips. I was glad my dress had a slit otherwise I would have ripped it. My back hit the wall and I moaned at the impact.

“Lucas!” I said louder finally bringing him too.

“You are driving me insane! How can you walk around like that and expect me to be okay with that. I tried to keep away, I TRIED, but Lily I can’t. When I saw you tonight my whole world stopped, you’re not leaving Lily” his grip got tighter and I knew what I had to say but deep down I didn’t want to.

“I’m leaving Lucas”

“NO!” he grabbed my shoulders and pushed me against the wall again. “Lily I don’t want to challenge you but I will”.

I couldn’t control myself, I slapped him across the face and a rush came through me. His head whipped to the side and I didn’t know what to expect. “You come into my room…” I pushed him away from me, jumping down on the floor. “and you fill me head with nonsense and then say you’re going to challenge me?” I was pissed off. “If you’re going to challenge me, don’t throw stones at my window and kiss me, just do it!”

“Do you want me to hurt you?” he raised his voice.

“Go on then! Lucas, please hurt me. I need to feel pain, the pain I experienced my whole life. But I promise you now. You will die”.

“Fury was defeated and she was the best soldier the Daughters had. I can see the way your body reacts to me ,the way you want me. I can see that you want this as much as me! Lily stop f*****g about, for once in your life think about yourself. Do what you want to do. Fury is gone what makes you think I wouldn’t defeat you?” his breathing was hitched and his chest was moving up and down at a ridiculous pace.

“Because you wouldn’t hurt the person you love” there it was, I needed him to say it, I wanted him to admit it. I saw his pupils widen and he wasn’t expecting it. I turned around and started to walk over to the window so he could leave. But I felt my hand being pulled behind me.

“I will” he whispered into my ear. “I will defeat the person who I love” he slowly kissed my neck and his hands ran up my bare back. “And then you will be my Luna” with that he walked past me and jumped out of the window.
