Chapter 12: Since Friday

1129 Words
I observed Larry's eyes for a while, his eyes are beautifully strange and different from other green eyes I have seen before. His eyes are like a slight green color, so light that you can think is a bit grey or light brown, not because the color is mixed but because is like clearer or transparent, or something like that in a way, not sure his eyes can be described better. I separate a little from him and I told him still  bit close to him “Now I get it; can I call you erased?” showing him my cutest smile. He smiled, he made a thinking gesture and lastly, he just nodded while continue laughing. I told him “Nice to meet you Erased” and then I returned to my place to continue writing my lines. I look askance at him, wink my right eye, then He smiled at me and then we both continue writing. I managed to make the 300 lines at 2:50 pm, not as I planned but close enough. I entered the main offices building walking fast, may I say, looking for the dean, to find her at a desk reading  calmly a book, a big heavy book. I extended my arm to give her my ten pages filled with lines, she went through all of them to check they were all filled to the end of the page, and then she told me “Ok, you can go now, be on time and with all your materials on Monday” I nodded and quickly got back out to get all my things, I waved goodbye to Erased, and left walking as fast as my legs allowed me to walk. I passed by the house with no sign of Andrew, I turned right, walked the last two blocks, and entered my house to run to my bedroom and leave my things there and change my clothes. As I just finished and sat on the bed, I heard my mom entering the house asking for me to go to the kitchen with her. Thaaaaaankssssss goooood, I just made it on time. That afternoon we visited my grandma's house, so I do not know if Andrew passed in front of my house that afternoon or not. The weekend passed with VHS movies, tv shows, cartoons, homework, family lunch and dinner, and then out of the blue it was Monday morning again. The day was as any usual day, classes, recess at the bench, observing Andrew from afar, but now Erased was waving and smiling at me every time he sees me, something I corresponded with a big smile and sometimes a wink. I watched a kind of shocked look on Andrew’s face the first time his friend waved at me to say hi and I smiled at him back, I do not know what he was thinking, I hope he doesn't think I am a floozy flirting with his friend. When the recess ended, we walked to the passage, Andrew took two steps toward the passage but erased walked faster and stopped by the entrance, that made Andrew stopped immediately and looked at him and me, alternating his gaze. When I was at the passage entry Erased extended his arm and gave me his hand for a handshake, while telling me “Hey new friend, have a good day” I felt extremely weird, mostly because Andrew was intensively watching us interact with an indescribable look, but even when I found Erased actions unfamiliar and strange, I showed him a smile, grabbed his hand, shook it, and replied “thanks Erased, you too” I looked behind him while retrieving my hand, I looked directly into Andrew’s eyes  and gave him a bigger smile. Andrew tilted left his head, he continued looking at me, nodded and then, just then, returned my smile with his. I entered the passage a bit nervous, not exactly nervous, it was like an unfamiliar feeling, it was a mix of confusion, shame of been put in that awkward position and a little worried that it could cause an issue between Andrew and Erased, I don’t plan or want to play any part in anything like that. The ladies waited for me on the other side of the passage and as soon as I crossed it, they were there with a question mark, a huge one, over their faces. Sandy immediately asked me “What was that?” I shrugged my shoulders and just nodded no. Lou asked “since when do you know his friend? “Since Friday” “What? how?” Lou asked “He was next to me at the punishment” I answered “He told me his name and that they call him Erased because of his eyes” “Woooow that was shocking, I think Andrew showed a bit of jealousy at you two” Sandy said “I don't think so, is his friend” I replied “I saw the whole thing; I was behind all of you, and I saw his face and how his heart broke when you took his hand” Sandy commented “Oh lord, you always make everything so dramatic Sandy, it would be rude if I left Erased with his hand extended, and nothing happened” I stop for a second and then I continue talking “let’s go or we will get phrases and I did three hundred last Friday and I am planning not get phrases for some time now, come on let's go ladies” We entered as the teacher was just walking to the front of the classroom and we rushed to our seats trying to be silent enough to not be noted by our teacher. The rest of the classes finally finished, and we got out of the classroom and out of school. Once we were out, we checked as usual among us homework, any other pending and we just took our own walk home. When I passed in front of the house, again, no one there, I got home, ate, did my homework and when the time was right, around 6:30 pm, I got out and sat on my step. This time Andrew came riding earlier than last Wednesday and Thursday, but he just stopped in front of me. I changed my smile to a serious face, I guess, because that was odd, right? I just kept on looking at him as he got out of his bicycle, left it on the sidewalk, and came walking to my door. WTF? He was serious but with a calm face, maybe? like if he were the most chilled person in the entire world.
