The Alpha King's Condemned Mate

Sonia "Cease her" Alpha Rex's voice resonated with a rumble in my ears and head. The guard hesitated because they know I am the alpha's supposed mate but immediately obeyed. I was grabbed by the shoulder and they led the way at once. "Please, alpha. He is a liar. Please hear me out" I cried, wriggling myself in the hands of the guards. My heart sank seeing him look away. His guards went out the door with me in their grip. We passed several maids and servants who stopped to gawp with wild looks of surprises on their faces. Some chuckled and spatted out in spite, while a few wore pretentious look of pity. Murmurs accompanied us as we headed towards the pack's grand ceremonial hall. My heart quickened its beating pace. Why are they taking me to the grand hall? I could hardly believe what is happening. The alpha ordering my arrest on the very day we are meant to become mates. He had promised to mark me today, but all because of what his beta said, all that had changed. He didn't even listen to my side of the story before passing his judgment. Unless he is planning to make whatever punishment he has for me a public one, why the grand hall? "Why are you taking me there?" I asked the guards sharply, while struggling in vain to loosen myself from their hold. The stoic looking guards grunted without a word and kept going. Back then in his chamber, I didn't hear the alpha asking them to take me here, so why are they bringing me here now? Once inside the grand hall, my hands were binded firmly behind me with a chain almost cracking my wrist bone and I was pushed down to my knees on the podium. The alpha is going to punish me before the entire pack on the day of our mating ceremony without minding whether it would affect his reputation. In few hours the guest are expected to start pouring in and they would all meet me here. This is far from how I imagined my day would end. I counted the seconds and minutes until I heard the large heavily-leaded entrance door opened. My father, Mateo Sanders and my two step sisters trailing behind him, approached me. From afar i could tell by his expression that he is greatly displeased but at least i have someone to talk to and would at least listen genuinely to me. "Sonia, what have you done"? My father asked at once, unmindful of the state I am in. "Father" I broke down in tears unable to control myself "I was r***d by that.." "Shut your mouth, you disgraceful child. I did all I could to bring you up well but look what you have turned into, you harlot" my father spatted out, cutting me short with disgust in his eyes. He didn't hear the r**e part I am sure. "He forced me father.." I repeated myself, helplessly, shocked my the names he called me. "Call me that once more and I will break you myself" He warned, not minding what I was trying to say. My step-sisters couldnt conceal their joy behind my father. I could hear them trying in vain to stiffle their squealing laughter. If there was any hope left for me, it was my father and now he too is against me. The universe is gainst me. I felt numb with pain. The bell for guests arrival rang and my father casted one hateful look at me before hurrying out with the two younger girls, signaling that he has cease to identify with me as a relation, just to save his face and that of the family. I was overwhelmed by an intense feeling of betrayal. Even the goddess has betrayed me. My knees ached and shook under me, where I knelt. Gradually, guests and pack members pooled inside the hall. Murmurs and murmurs of my name filled the air. Bitch. Cheat. Abomination. Whore. All these echoed throughout the hall. I could tell how fast the news had spread. Tears gushed out of my eyes in flood. I couldn't bear to look up one bit. From the intensity of the murmur, I knew that the hall was filled to the brim. Suddenly it fell silent. Even the sound of a needle falling down could be heard. Only alpha Rex's arrival could have such effect on the pack. "Today is meant to be an auspicious occasion. However due to a drastic crime committed by one of us here, the initial ceremony cannot commence as planned. But another will hold in its place. So brace yourself up for a s*******r ceremony tonight" Rex announced. At first, I thought my ears were failing me due to some blockages in them but the statement keep resounding in my head. I refused to believe what Rex had just said. A s*******r ceremony is an occasion when anyone who have committed crimes beyond pardonable are slayed with a sacred sword preserved specially for this purpose. Family members of the offenders are persecuted too, unless they vindicated themselves in highly convincible way before the alpha and everyone. The significance of this ceremony is to prevent any attempt of massive rebellion by pack members and to instil fear in the hearts of said evil-doers. Goose bumps rose all over my body and I suddenly felt a painful twirl in my stomach. I looked up in shock. Panic-stricken, I cried out and search for my father through the crowd with my eyes. There he was, at the far end corner to my left, sitted together with my step-sisters Kian and Sefin, and my step-mother, Mabel. My father had a down casted look but I knew better than thinking it was out of pity for me. He stood up from his seat and he caught Rex's attention at once "Speak!" He ordered. At last, I thought perhaps, guilt has began to eat him up and he is willing to speak for me now. I held my breath, waiting. "Since she was a child, I have had trouble trying to curtail her habits. She loves been around the other gender far more than her gender. Once she forced a boy to bed at the age of sixteen" my father forced the lie out of his mouth. I gasped in horror flapping my eyes open. The crowd was thrown into a low frenzy as whispers consumed the hall. My father continued in a hitched voice now "I tried so hard to stop her and she promised me she will never go back to those ways again since then. She decieved me to think that she has changed. Else, believe me alpha, I would have let you know this before now" my father's voice was tinged with deep fear and desperation. My eyes stung with tears now. I could not see him clearly due to my heavily-clouded teary vision. None of that was true. He had just revealed my step sister, Kian's story as mine, just to save his own skin. "She decieved me too alpha, as she had decieved you, please have mercy on us!" My father fell on his knees in tears. "Father!!" My scream pierced through the walls of the hall. "Don't..don't listen to him. He is a bloody liar and and..." Words failed me as I recalled the agonizing experience I just went through in the hands of Evans, our beta. It all started when I was busy getting dolled up by the maids in preparation for the grand mating ceremony, when a servant informed me that the alpha needs my presence in his chambers. Knowing it was against the tradition, still, I went. No one dares go against the alpha's wish even if it means breaking the rules, for he is the law himself. Every other thing falls behind. Reaching his chambers, I met Evans, my best friend and the pack's beta. He told me the alpha had summoned him too, so I waited with him. Strangely, We had grown so close after the incidence when he asked me to be his Chosen but I turned him down outrightly. This happened three years ago. Sitted right then in the alpha's chamber with his beta alone felt uncomfortable so after much deliberation in my head, I made to leave. "You wouldn't want the alpha to meet your absence here, would you?" He said curtly, darting across my path to the door. He stood right in front of it, folding his arms against his chest. "Of course not. I simply just want to grab a cup of something relaxing, you know it's been a hectic day with all the preparation going on" i walked around him to reach the door. Suddenly, he whirled round and pulled me back by the arm, his eyes looking fiery and devilish. I flinched and tried to get away from him. It was then he came upon me, pouncing on me. He threw me into the bed; the alpha's bed! I gasped wide-eye, at the realization of what he was about to do. There was no way he would dare to come near me right there on the alpha's bed unless he was ready to die. No one has dared such a thing before. It is unheard of, a taboo, an automatic death sentence for anyone, regardless of who you are in the pack. "What has come over you, Evans" I tried to scram out of his reach but he caught me with a single blow by the neck which sent me sprawling on the bed. What audacity he has got. The only way any member of the pack, regardless of who you are, will attempt such a suicide mission on the alpha's bed is when the alpha himself gave the permission. I immediately reach out to the alpha through the mind linked, but I was blocked at once. Panic gripped me, I tried again but each time I met a barrier. The alpha has block me from reaching him. Why would he do that to me? Is he is already aware of what is going on. Confusion ravaged my mind. "For three whole years. You turned me down and, outrightly rejected me. Disgraced me before the pack and made me a laughing stock in the eyes of those inferiors, because I loved you Sonia!!" The beast hovering over me growled into my face with a dirty smirk on his face, while undoing his belt, my hands pinned above my head by his stronger hand. I struggled but Evans' weight on my tiny body became more crushing, squeezing every bit of air out of my lungs. I was completely defenseless. He pressed harder against me. Then I felt an excruciating pain as he penetrated me roughly. He got off me after what seems like an eternity in hell for me. Too disgusted to speak, I was already making for the door when the alpha came in. My agony dissipated momentarily at the sight of him. "Alpha" I called out weakly, searching for his eyes. The last straw which broke my facade of control was when he shunned me completely, walking past me like I was some invisible fly. He walked straight to Evans, listened raptly to him as he narrate how I tried to force myself on him. Every single word he had uttered there registered painfully in my head. "She came on me and slashed her fingers on my neck and back and tried to force me to lay with her, but I vehemently declined, because I know the magnitutde of such an offense and I won't dare to do such a thing with my alpha's supposed mate" The moment when Evans opened the strange scratches on his back and neck before the alpha to prove his fabrications, played severally in my mind's eye. I knew then that Evans is framing me to revenge the humiliattion he suffered by me three years ago. I never disgraced him, I simply rejected him and i accepted Alpha Rex not because of his status but because my father as well as Evans had pressured me to. I thought Evans had gotten well past that as he is mostly the one who convinced me that the alpha's advances were sincere because I was doubtful of the whole turn of events. I thought I had their support and we could all live happily ever after. Little did I know that the journey to that happily-ever-after is far from beginning. "She defiled our sacred sanctity even before we become fully mates" alpha Rex's husky voice dragged me back to the present. I looked around me again hoping it is all a terrible nightmare which I could wake up from. But it was not. It is my reality. I felt my breath grow shallow. "She has commited a crime unpardonable against me, alpha Rex and her execution is for the greater good. This is a lesson for all you maids, to uphold the dignity and integrity of this pack with good virtues, now and always!" he thundered, his voice rumbling across the hall.
