Chapter 10 Becca was fast asleep when Ethan pulled into my driveway. He offered to carry her inside, but I protested. I’m not sure why I wasted my breath. Kevin didn’t pull away when I draped my arm over his shoulder and guided him inside. He clutched the train in his hand, but I could tell he was as exhausted as Becca. We followed Ethan and Becca upstairs, and when Ethan turned toward Becca’s room, I told Kevin not to worry about brushing his teeth. I kissed Becca’s head and followed Ethan out of the room, closing the door softly behind me and hoping I wouldn’t be changing her sheets later.
