Love is an Illusion

It's been about weeks now since me and this girl have been texting and calling, and got to give it to her. She is good at this, one time I was looking for chicks in the city, you know ladies and stuff, to do some drugs and even get laid sometimes. I can sense that she got upset about it because my stupid friend Toby posted a status and she eventually saw it. and who would've thought I was worried about her. I am slowly catching feelings for this girl and I hate it. I hate love. I hate everything about it. Love for me is an illusion, Love is pain, suffering, all disguised as care and good emotions. If you give into that you will lose at the end. The day Melissa showed me the true meaning of love I vowed to never Love ever again.

*BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ*

"Hey baby" my eyebrow raised

"I meant hi Rio hehe" she continued

"Hello Faith" I responded

"What do you call someone who fell for a person they have never seen in person?"

"umm I have no idea, what?" me thinking its a joke or some trivia

"Me Rio" After reading this I straightened my back and almost spat out my drink

"Haha very funny Faith" I tried to lighten the mood

"No, I meant it, Rio I like you, but youre so into looking for girls, partying, and God knows what else. but I accept that because that was love is, its acceptance"

"I don't know what to say Faith"

"You don't have to, I don't require you to say anything, I said those words because I want you to know how I feel about you and I really think we could work, you know?"

"woah okay" I said this because I have no idea what to say to her

"Listen, I am going to Bukidnon in a few days, and I would love to meet you in Rio, do you plan to go this Saturday?"

"Sure I can go this saturday, but my friend Toby will come along because he never likes to leave me alone, but I swear he is not a handful"

"Sure my friend Gina will come too" she said

"Alright so Saturday?" I said

"Saturday, I am looking forward in meeting you Rio"

"Alright me too Faith"

I am somewhat scared but excited, because I have experience with love, it sucks and it ends in tears and depression and not eating and not giving a damn about the people who really care about you.

"Rio!" I heard Toby's voice from across the room

"Rio hey!" he said again and I stopped walking

"Hey you on your way home? let me take you" He said, I know he is making up for the fight that we've been on a few days back

"Yeah alright, and I have something to tell you too" I said placing my books on my bag

"Sure what's up?" he said crossing his arms, it's a signal that means he is listening

"I met this girl on one of these social media platforms and um she seems very nice you know she is sweet and stuff but lives kind of far away from me. but we have decided to meet this Saturday, will you please come with me? just in case you know?" i said trying to relax

"ohh hold on, Rio? falling in love again? Oh I don't know sounds suspicions to me" he said giving out a small laugh

"Toby I am dead serious right now can you please take me seriously?" I said

"Okay okay I apologize, but Rio have you forgotten who won the debate last semester and convinced everyone in the room that Love is an illusion? I almost fell for it too" He said

"Are you coming or not?"

"Ofcourse I will I'm your wingman mate" he said hugging me

"Alright don't be a jerk okay? this girl she is very sweet and she has manners so please be at you best behavior I am begging you" I said looking at him seriously

"Alright alright I hear you Rio" he said opening the car door

We then drove to my house, and the song "Its You" played on Toby's Car stereo

"Hey mind turning that up?" I said while grabbing my phone to record myself

"Oh sure sure" he said and turned the volume up"

"Its you, Its always you, met a lot of people but nobody feels like you, so, please don't break my heart don't tear me apart, I know how it starts, trust me I've been broken before" I sang on the top of lungs with full emotions and I watched how Toby was vibing with it too

"Wow you should post that" he said focusing on the road

"Nah" I said hiding my phone

"Wait I'll post it" he said and showed me a recording he did on his phone too

"HAHAAH alright then knock yourself out" I said and grabbed my bag from the back because we are a few more blocks away from my street

"Alright see you in a but Rio" He said closing the car door

"Saturday, Don't be a jerk and dress nice" I said and walked to the front door

I heard Toby's car pass by while I open the front door, I haven't heard from faith since class, should I contact her? what am I saying? LOVE IS AN ILLUSION RIO, jeez I better calm down or I will get hurt badly.

I sat down on the table and watched my mom prepare the food in front of me I looked at my dad and asked

"Hey dad? is love an Illusion?" I said playing with my fork

"Well, it can be, but if you look at it properly? in another perspective? Love? Love is beautiful, Love is Passion, Love is patience and kind, Look at me and your mom, we have been married for 20 years and nothing has changed ever since because we both believe that love is beautiful and she is the most beautiful girl I have ever seen in this world" he said with complete compassion and I watch my mom giving a disgusted look at my dad

"What?" he said

"Don't believe your dad he is joking around" she said and sat down with us

The rest of the night went on quietly and I still haven't heard of Faith, there I nothing wrong with checking in right?

"Yo?" I send the message and turned my phone all the way around

My feet were shaking and I am actually anxious

*BUZZ BUZZ BUZZ*

"Missed me already Rio?" she responded and I blushed

"Hey AHAHA well maybe" I said

"AHAHA how are you?" she said

"Fine actually how about you?" I said

"Fine I was busy earlier that's why I wasn't in your DM's earlier"

"Yeah its fine I understand" I responded

"Thank you, are you sleepy?" She said

"Yeah kind of" I said actually yawning

"Come here lets sleep now" this gave me butterflies

"Sureee" I said and just jumped to my bed to sleep

"Alright Good night Rio <3" More and more butterflies

"Good night Faith"
