Chapter 1
ARIELE “Dad, I can’t believe you would do this to your daughter." I sulked profusely. “Believe me, it hurts me much more than it hurts you,” my father says as he pushes me away from himself. “Then why?! Why are you doing it? Why am I being sold off? I cried out painfully, tears flowing down my now pale white cheeks continuously. “You know our situation; these debts won’t pay themselves,” my father added, pacing back and forth in the tiny room. “So your only option is selling off your daughter?!” The look of sadness in my eyes turned to one of hate almost immediately. “What good are children if they can’t help their parents?” He asked and then paused to give me what seemed like a cross-examination before continuing his derogatory statement. "Arielle, you are weak, an Omega who does nothing but sit around eating my food. I cannot have you here. Not anymore," he added to the hurt. These words broke me. I am 20 and wasn't sure if I would ever get a mate, even though I so badly wished for it. “You’re a terrible person; you’re a horrible person. I hope you rot in hell. Dear father”. My voice managed to ring out in between cries. “Don’t make this harder than it already is for me; I beg of you,” he pleaded softly. Not feeling remorseful for his actions. In no time, I was thrown into the back of the truck, and it was locked immediately. The merchant offered him some money before taking off into the city. My father stood and watched the truck until it left his range of vision. Inside the truck, I cried her eyes out. If my father, whom I loved so much, could sell me off to a total stranger, then I would expect worse from other people. “Why?” Tears dripped down my eyes and wet the sleeves of my blue dress. “Why would Dad do this to me? Is he as awful as people make him out to be? I don’t think I need an answer to that question because I’ve seen that, actually, he’s worse than people say he is.” I lamented in the dark truck; I knew not where I was being taken. It was all so confusing; the only thing that I was sure of was the fact that my father sold me off to an anonymous buyer in the heart of the city. Before long, we had gotten to the location. I was then ordered out of the truck by the slave dealer. He had a stern face, with huge marks on it and tattoos gracing each arm. "Be quick". "Weak". He said this, spitting on the ground just a few meters before me. I quickly ran my eyes through the environment, and it looked strange to me. I didn’t know where I was brought to, and I would have done anything not to be there. “Where am I?” I managed to ask the man. “You’re in the heart of the city,” he grudgingly answered. “Heart of the city? Why did you bring me here? What are you planning to do with me?” “Nothing actually. I didn’t buy you for myself. The king made a request: he needed new slaves, young ones. Weak ones just like you”. He flashed an ugly smirk at me. "I am not weak." I wanted to scream at him but thought about my decision and stopped. “It was the work of the slave traders to buy slaves to deliver to him.” My disbelief crossed my face. “What disrespect? By now, you should know that I’m not just any girl! I am the daughter of an alpha.” I threatened. He chuckled and took a few steps closer to where I was standing. Without wasting any time, the slave driver gave me a slap across the face. "Well, your ‘Highness’, in case you haven’t realized, your father sold you. He sold you money to pay his debts. You’ll be treated anyhow the king wants to treat you because you no longer have rights. Do you hear me? He barked. The resounding slap sent twinkles to my brain. I tried to cry, but my bank of tears failed me. I resolved to bite my lips so hard that blood started to gush out. The slave driver slapped me across the face again. Even harder this time. “You have no right to harm yourself; I paid good money for your feeble worm.” He barked at me. “So I do not have the right to my own body anymore?” I queried. “If you don't behave yourself, I will rip off your flesh with my whip. He threatened. — "Get out of the truck," he commanded in a more fierce tone. "I’m not going anywhere. My father will come to save me. "I tried not to move. “After selling you off to be a slave?” He yanked me, pulling me by my dress. “It has to have been a mistake. It’s something I can’t believe. Maybe he was drinking again.” I pleaded as he pulled me violently into the pack house. I broke into tears again. I realized that the slave dealer wasn’t telling any lies. My father didn’t care about me. He’s a horrible person, and I found myself wishing death on him a few times for causing me so much pain. “What am I going to do here? I asked. “Don't ask questions. Did I say it before? I’m sure I told you that you’d be serving the king here.” He replied angrily. “So I was sold and transported against my will to serve an old king?” I whined. “Nobody said anything about the king being old. You came to that conclusion yourself.” As I bicker with the slave trader, the huge castle doors open up, and a very young man comes out of the mansion. “Is she the one you brought to serve me?” he asked, looking at me with disdain. "Yes, sir, but she’s a bit of a problematic one, though,” the merchant complained. “I know; it shows on her face.” The man took a close look at me, leaning in with his forehead almost touching hers. I was out of words; this is what I expected to see. He was a handsome man. To an extent, he looked too good to be mean. His skin glowed beautifully, like a baby who hadn’t been touched by the cruel sunlight. He was tall, easily 6’3. His jaw was chiseled, and other masculine features were very pronounced. “My name is Christopher, and you will refer to me as your king and nothing more.” He shoved the words in my face. I was soon taken inside the massive room, where I found other girls that were bought by the king. Surprisingly, the other girls didn't put up any resistance. They were just happy that they got to meet Christopher. “It’s nice to be welcoming you all into my castle. I hired you all to become servants and carry out every duty relating to just that." However, my son, the Alpha of this park, will arrive in a short while, and you all will take turns to serve and clean his chambers." He examined our faces. Then he suddenly decided to settle his large, piercing eyes on me. “What is your name?” he asked, pointing a huge finger into my face. "I do not have a name, sir." I lied. Wack!! He slapped me on the cheek. “If you try to be smart with me next time... I’ll likely kill you instantly.” He barked angrily. “My name is Arielle,” I muttered in a shaky voice, then went completely quiet. "That’s a good girl." He held up my soft chin and looked into my eyes intensely. "Here you must obey every rule." He roared and gave each of us a stare in the face. Just then, a huge bell came ringing. "Ah! Ah! My son has arrived; his coronation is in a month," he said with beaming eyes. "C'mon, you all! To the barn! move it! The guard barked. We lined up in a single file and began to march out through the corridor. I tried to keep my pace, but halfway down the lane, a strange scent hit my nostrils. A strange scent laced with cinnamon is warm and sweet, with a hint of spice. "What could that be?"
