Chapter Nine: The Kiss

1057 Words
Brooklyn As I finished the story of our past I watched as James sat rigid in his while his alpha hadn't shown an ounce of feeling on the outside. I could feel through the mate bond the anger that was boiling inside of him. You could of never have known when looking into his calm and collected expression. The only change was his eyes, they darkened to a deep amber and the pupil had dilated some. I was surprised to see the exact opposite of his wolf trying to escape out of him, it pleased me. Him and his beast were thinkers not reactors and it filled my soul with pride. Most alphas by now would of trashed the room, and shredded anyone who got in there way. Their over protective nature felt them entitled to that type of reaction, but my mate proved them wrong. In a way he reminded me of my fathers temperament, something we thought could only be achieved by spiritual guidance. Maybe my mate has more guidance then he realizes. I reached over and touched his hand, providing a small amount of comfort. He squeezed my fingers lightly and let go of a breath I didn't realize he was holding. He looked at Blake, and I followed suit seeing his little head hanging low and his shoulders slumped. He was pulling apart a muffin that I had given him to try and I frowned. After breakfast I would find a way to distract him from all this heartbreak. He deserves happiness even through these hard times. Nate looked back at me and pressed his lips together into a thin line, breathing deeply through his nose. "Who was the alpha that attacked your lands?" he questioned. "He was a rogue, I dont know how he had managed to get the others to follow behind him, but either way he was not recognized for his position by the council." Nate nodded and I wringed my hands in a fit of anxiety. I couldn't tell if this was coming from the mate bond or myself. I needed to distract myself slightly so I started to clean up the dishes on the table. there was little to no food left, what was left I would pack for us later, no reason to waste such a precious resource. As I cleaned table and took it to the little sink I glanced at Nate talking to Blake quietly and I smiled when my little brother perked up slightly. I put the food in little bags that they provided for us, tying them tightly before throwing away the paper plates. The small amount of cleanable dishes that they provided were way to big for this sink to handle. When I was done stacking everything up neatly I felt arms wrap around me. My Mates presence settled a storm I didnt realize was brewing and subconsciously leaned into his touch. This was wrong for us to do, no matter how natural it felt. I was raised on strict rules, we weren't even supposed to touch skin on skin until after the binding ritual let alone being snuggled up into each other's embrace. I pulled away slightly and turned to face him, meeting a dazzling smile as he leaned in and our foreheads touched. "Mate, in my culture this is wrong." I whispered and I felt him stiffen around me. "How could something be wrong that feels so right." He asked and looked deep into my eyes. Whatever wall that I started to clumsily build fell back down. A pooling of heat started in my lower belly as his gaze drifted from my eyes to my lips. I swallowed hard, my mind screaming at me to stop this nonsense while heart and body wanted me to continue. My brain was out voted when he leaned down and kissed me lightly. It was the smallest of pecks but the heat in my stomach turned into a flame that crashed through me. I crushed myself to him as our lips molded together, to a point where I couldn't tell where he ended and I begin. I let out a moan when he grabbed me by the back of the thighs and lifted me onto the sink. I felt the rumble of his growl in his chest but couldn't hear it with my own ears from the buzzing in my head. The flame was burning so hot that it was almost painful, my body knew what it wanted before I even did. "HEY Y'ALL THERE IS VIRGIN EARS HERE!" The yell shattered the moment and I immediately pulled away from mate and pretty much ran across the room. Nate was gripping the sink hard enough the hear the porcelain creak in his hands. Those strong hands could squeeze other things... why did I just think that? what the hell is wrong with me. I looked down at Blake who was extremely red, anger written on his face. "Did he hurt you Brooke?!" He yelled bawling his little fists. His action made me laugh, almost hysterical. I pulled Blake into a hug and kissed his cheek. "No brother." I stated and pinched his tiny nose. I looked up to see James talking to my mate who was starting to calm down, but I could feel through the bond that he didn't want to stop. I looked down at me and my brothers attire and came up with a quick idea to separate us from this room and the dirty thoughts that are happening. "Is there anyway that we can get proper clothes? We look like a mess in your outfits, not to offend." James laughed and started putting things back in there suitcase. "If we leave now we should be able to spare sometime. We can figure out your sizes and get a weeks worth of close for now, and I can get my mate and and her friends to get some more clothes for yall when we get back home." I nodded smiling bright. Nate finally turned smiling slightly, our eyes connected and I felt the heat start to pool again making me squeeze my thighs together. His smile turned into a smirk and I knew that leaving this room wouldn't stop the feeling growing inside me. But hopefully it could slow it down.
