Brooklyn
I woke up in a warm soft bed. My body had sunken in slightly and I struggled to actually roll over. As I rolled on my side my arm loosely fell on something warm and solid. I opened my eyes up slowly and was shocked to see Nate sleeping next to me. I immediately jumped back and out of bed. Looking down I was still fully clothes other then my shoes which brought me great relief. But every minute with this man was another rule broken. Doesn't he know we can't this until the marking ceremony? I looked around the room, searching for Blake. He was sleeping on a identical bed next to James who was laying above the covers with a half eaten sandwich on his chest. Did he really pass out in the middle of eating? I walked over to Blake and ran my hand down his face softly he smiled and leaned his face into the palm of my hand and I instantly felt relieved. Turning around there was a door behind me. I opened it quietly to reveal a sectioned off room with a very large mirror and two sinks in front of it. To the right was another door that lead to the bathroom.
I looked at my reflection and was disgusted by the sight in front of me. My braid was a mess, my hair and body covered in soot and blood from the attack. I sighed lightly and undid my braid combing my fingers through my hair. I opened the bathroom door and the light automatically turned on for me. I closed the door behind me and started to undo my body suit.
Now you may be thinking how does a girl who doesn't know anything about vehicles but knows basic necessities. Because of the snow around our village we didn't have vehicles, we ran in our wolf forms from place to place. Our houses were still modern with electricity and plumbing that came from solar panels and windmills.
I turned on the shower to as hot as I could get it and jumped in scrubbing my body with the bar of soap they gave to get most of the grime off my pale skin. My skin started to turn red from the heat and my force. I hadn't realized that big tears started to fall down my cheeks mixing with the water until I was full on sobbing. My body shook so hard that I had to eventually sit down in the shower from my chest hurting. I tucked my face in between my knees until the last of the tears finally stopped. I felt completely drained and I didn't want to get up. As I contemplated never standing up the door slammed open and I jumped in fear letting out a scream.
Nate opened the shower door while I scrambled to cover myself as he reached out for me. Grabbing my face and forced me to look up at him.
"Whats wrong? Why are you in pain?" I shook my head and covered my chest up as tightly as I could. I was confused and scared, how did he know I was hurting emotionally? I thought only physical pain shined through the bond. As I looked up at him new tears started streaming down my face. He pulled me into his arms and held me tightly. His arms felt so comforting that I didn't regret wrapping my arms around him. We sat there chest to chest as I cried oh his bare shoulder.
Eventually I calmed down enough to be able to think straighter and the pain in my chest was a little easier to manage. Nate stood and turned the water off for me and helped me on my feet. Grabbing a clean towel he wrapped it around my small frame, absent mindedly pushing a strand of hair behind my ear.
"Who did you lose?" he asked quietly and I looked down at his chest and swallowed.
"My whole pack was murdered in the night by rogues. Me and my Brother escaped by the skin on our teeth." He took in a deep breath squeezing my shoulders lightly. He pressed his lips to my forehead and ran his fingers through my hair. I Closed my eyes and hummed at the comforting feeling. With a light kiss he pulled away.
"I'll bring you some close to wear, I think James has a hair brush you can use." I smiled and brushed my hand down his arm.
"Thank you. " He smiled back before walking away. I quickly dried off, outside the door in the adjacent room was some folded clothes and a small brush.
I pulled on a pair of sweat pants that were a little too big around the waist but were comfortable and a baggy shirt. There wasn't a bra and the underwear was a pair on his boxer briefs. Good thing my chest size was small, the shirt should hide the fact I'm not wearing one. Fully dressed I walked out, Nate was on the phone with someone while James was trying to make some coffee. I sat on the bed next to Blake and gently shook him. He opened his eyes and yawned reaching his arms above his head. We smiled at each other before I tapped his leg.
"Come on sleepy head, let's get a bath." I took him into the bathroom and helped him undress. Turning the shower on and handing him the bar of soap so he could wash himself. I came back in a few minutes later to make sure all the dirt was off before washing his hair for him. When he was cleaned I Dried him off and stole one of James shirt and pants, who was smaller out of the two men and dressed Blake in overly sized clothes. I brushed and dried his hair and pulled it into a tight bun on the back of his head.
When we walked out the smell of bacon and pancakes made my stomach growl. Sitting in the middle of the room was a cart slammed full of pancakes, waffles, an assortment of meat, and eggs.
"I didn't know what you liked so I got a bit of everything." Nate said looking sheepishly as he rubbed the back of his head. I hugged him tightly.
"Thank you Nate." Blake had already starting snagging bacon off of the plate and shoving them in his mouth. I laughed when he moaned at the taste. Helping him make his plate and cutting up his pancakes. I Made myself a whopping plate with a little bit of everything and started to stuff my face.
"We can't stay here for long. We still have another hour to the council meeting and then we have to head back."
"Where are we going?" Blake asked and James flicked his bun.
"Georgia." he drawled out and I almost choked on my pancake.
"We've never been that far south. Hell this right here is farthest south we've ever been." I stated frowning. "The south thinks were barbaric." I mumbled letting my insecurities take over. Blake tapped my hand and smiled.
"The Goddess said south. " He simply stated and I nodded in confirmation. The men just stared and I sighed.
"I guess it's time I tell yall what happened a couple of nights ago." Sighing I squared my shoulders and began our sad tale of how our lives were changed forever.
