Chapter Twenty-Three “Zayin, wait,” Tres called out as he stepped out into the settling darkness. It took a moment for my eyes to adjust and find Zane. His long legs ate up the ground as he put distance between himself and the rest of us. “The last person I need to deal with is you,” Zane growled over his shoulder at Tres. “Listen,” said Tres as he caught up to Zane. He reached out, but thought better and pulled his hand back. “I know you’re upset, but—” Zane whirled around. Tres had been right to retract his hand.
